Names have power.

Unit 203 was awakened in a dwarven stronghold atop Bàn Thờ Lê và Đá (Altar of Pear and Rock) by the hobgoblin tinkerer he and his brothers came to know as Cậu Bảy (Uncle 7). In doing so, he granted them three gifts: The greatest was life, the second was family, and the third was the sense of taste.

Many years ago, Uncle 7 and the dwarf Lapideous of the Grumgold clan created the viviliths. Lapideous engineered a technique to imbue pieces of dwarven souls into stone constructs, even using his sorceress daughter as a test subject to this end.

The Grumgolds and hobgoblins came to resent one another when a substance used by the Grumgolds for mining purposes caused a horrific accident that slew a great number of hobgoblins. Blood Lord Varrox of the hobgoblins signed a demonic contract that granted the hobgoblins power to slay the Grumgolds, but it came at a great cost. The fey allowed demonic language to be used in the contract rather than their own fey language, and the demons assumed control of the hobgoblins as a military force. The hobgoblins were cursed so that they can no longer harvest food from the land, and they were made to serve the demons in battle.

The hobgoblins believed Uncle 7 awoke the viviliths to be fully-obedient soldiers for Varrox's army, but he raised them as his children. 203 came to honor his Grumgold ancestors, and he hoped to bring into reality the many creations that they had dreamt. 203 took the name Khaz-Guldur because he hoped to carry the knowledge that the Grumgolds would have held within their halls.

Uncle 7 would not allow his creations, his children, to serve Blood Lord Varrox as soldiers. The group made a daring escape from their home. During this escape, much of the stronghold atop Altar of Pear and Rock was destroyed. The group sought a new home in Isonami, a dwarvish village near the ocean, but they found that Varrox's army had already arrived. They had begun to enslave the dwarves and force them to provide food, water, and shelter for the army.

Uncle 7 invoked powerful magic using a piece of himself and invited his family to join him. The viviliths all gave parts of themselves to this ritual, and the stones of Kyozō stood to face the challenge. They took the shape of , which defeated Varrox's gigantic manticore wreathed in smoke and flames. With this display of strength, the hobgoblin forces surrendered. Now, the colossus rests within Kyozō once again.
