As a teenager, Corvus's family perished in the tragedy that occurred during the Roseknuckle raid. The Maskareta, a rebellious group seeking independence from the Bazagonian crown, instigated an attack from the adventuring guild known as the Guild of the Dragon. Near the end of the battle, a portion of the district plummeted into the abyss in the center of Koris Ekteino, including Corvus's home. Corvus barely escaped death himself, but his home, his family, and many of his neighbors who had taken shelter from the fighting plummetted to their doom.
In the year that followed, Corvus was raised by a family friend who served at a local temple to Kharra the Merry. He was made an acolyte of the temple while he lived there.
During that time, he found that the spirits of the dead innocents from Roseknuckle, including his family, found him. They called to him for justice, and they granted him supernatural power. In moments of need, he could manifest them into tangible echoes of his own form.
Much to the chagrin of the temple priests (who tried to teach him to enjoy the more simple pleasures in life), Corvus would sneak away and train as a fighting man under the tutelage of a warrior from the Hastiti Dominae. Corvus ingratiated himself to this warrior due to his persistence and willingness to take a beating.
