Your community keeps its characters, adventure schedule and world lore on WestMarches.games, and uses Discord to talk and play. This page covers what you need to do on the site before your first session.
Join your community's Discord server, then sign in on WestMarches.games with the same Discord account. The site reads your roles from the server to decide what you can do. You need the Player role to make a character or sign up for an adventure, so if you can't see a Create Character button, ask one of the admins for it.
Open Characters in your community and create one. Read the guidelines at the top of the form first. They are your community's rules for what is allowed, and they differ from one community to the next.
The site isn't a character sheet. It tracks your level, experience and money, and where each of them came from. Keep your full sheet wherever you like, such as D&D Beyond, and paste its link into the Character Sheet URL field.
Your community may want a GM to approve new characters before they can play. The new character also gets a post in the community's Discord characters channel if it has one, and that post is the place to answer questions about it.
Your player profile has a Notes to GMs field that only you and the community's GMs can read. Use it for anything that helps them run a good game for you, such as topics you want to avoid or when you can usually play. You can reach your profile from your name on any of your characters.
GMs post adventures on the Adventures page, and each one also gets a post in Discord with a link to sign up. Pick which character to bring. The adventure page lists the levels it is open to, and times are shown in your own timezone. You can still sign up when an adventure is full, though you may end up on a waitlist.
Depending on the GM, your signup is accepted straight away or after they review it. Questions for the GM and the rest of the group go in the adventure's Discord thread.
The GM hands out experience and gold on the site after the session. They show up in your character's Rewards tab, and your level goes up on its own when you have enough experience.
You can then add notes on the adventure page. Public notes are the recap of what happened, and the rest of the community can read them. Private notes are only for you, which makes them a good place for leads your character wants to follow up.
If your community has a marketplace, you can spend your gold there between sessions. Each purchase is logged on your character. Add the item to your character sheet yourself.
On servers with the WestMarches.games bot, you can post in character. Run /wmg character to pick one of your characters, then /say to post a message under that character's name and picture.
