DMs function as the lifeblood of our server. They facilitate stories, present the influence the players have on the world, and orchistrate the narratives and mechanics of our stories.
These articles contain a full guide for DMing in The Glassfang Syndicate specifically; and includes our guidelines, philosophies, and protocols. Guides for DMing overall can be found in #resources

Glossary of Terms
These are definitions of some terms you may come across within these articles
- Adventure Your traditional D&D session. Currently, these are all held over discord VC and roll20 for the VTT
- DM Event A scene run by a DM in text RP, generally relating to plot.
- Adventurer League Modules pre-written and officially play tested sessions that are authorized by Wizards of the Coast. Each one is written as a one-shot, though may be part of long term plot.
- Canon Content Anything that is from an approved source from outside the server.
- Custom Content Anything that is an original work of a DM.
- Adventure page This always refers to the aventure page found on westmarches.games
- Major Tier Magic Items Magic items that have major mechanical benefit; are limited for how and how often PCs can obtain them. Only magic items of uncommon rarity or higher can be considered major tier.
- Minor Tier Magic Items Consumables and magic items that have minor or utility purposes. Much easier to find out in the world. All common rarity magic items are considered minor tier
- Lore Aspect any piece of lore that can grant renown, and is run by a Lorekeeper. For the sake of soft opening, canon factions are the only Lore Aspects in play.
- Narrative The story part of anything a DM runs or a player plays, generally requires little to no approval; though may require logging and record keeping if integrating into lore
- Mechanics (short-term) Mechanics that don't extend past an adventure, time period, or area. But still required to be balanced within their effect.
- Mechanics (long-term) Mechanics that extend outside of their effects. Magic items, mechanical curses, and the like are considered long term mechanics.
- Approval(s) required What requires review and approval from Head DMs. To request approval of anything, please ping @HeadDM in #dm-requests
