Petraios is a 312-year-old satyr druid from the ancient Cormanthor Forest, where he devoted over two centuries to serving as the keeper of a forgotten sanctuary hidden deep beneath its canopy. At the heart of the grove rested a minor mythal, an ancient weave of High Magic created by elven archmages to preserve a sacred place where the Weave and the natural world existed in perfect harmony.
Though the world beyond gradually forgot the sanctuary, Petraios did not.
As its Mythalkeeper, he spent centuries tending the land and the fading magic woven into it. He repaired weathered runestones, maintained ancient wards, performed seasonal rituals, recorded forgotten histories, and ensured the sanctuary remained a place of balance rather than power. To him, every mythal is more than a magical creation- it is a promise between the land, the Weave, and those willing to remember.
For most of his life, the sanctuary was his entire world.
Then, during one of his renewal rituals, the mythal responded in a way it never had before. Instead of drawing strength from the grove itself, Petraios felt echoes carried across the Weave, as though other forgotten mythals were calling to one another from distant corners of Faerûn.
Believing this to be a sign that ancient magic across the world was changing, Petraios entrusted his sanctuary to the forest and set out for the first time in centuries. Now he wanders the Realms seeking forgotten places, lost mythals, and remnants of ancient magic, hoping to preserve what can still be saved before their stories vanish forever.
Though quiet and humble, Petraios carries himself with the calm certainty of one who has watched centuries pass beneath the boughs of ancient trees. He believes that kingdoms rise and fall, forests grow and wither, and civilizations inevitably change, but memories deserve caretakers. As long as someone remembers, nothing is ever truly lost.
