Kamathariel Vesperis has died before. Perhaps more than once.
Throughout lives he can no longer remember, one constant has remained: Venn. By blessing, curse, ancient oath, or some force neither of them yet understands, Kamathariel is destined to find Venn in every life. No matter the distance between them or the circumstances of their births, their paths inevitably cross. With that bond comes an instinct as old as any memory he possesses: the unwavering need to protect him.
This life, however, did not end as it should have.
Kamathariel died, only to be returned to life through the intervention of the Knights of the Gauntlet. Whatever brought him back did not restore him completely. He awoke as a Reborn, carrying fractured memories, unfamiliar instincts, and echoes of a life that feels simultaneously his and someone else's. Exactly why the Knights chose to return him, and what his relationship with them was before his death, remains uncertain.
Yet among everything he lost, one thing endured.
He found Venn again.
The recognition is deeper than memory. Kamathariel may not understand what binds them or how many times they have found one another before, but he knows Venn matters. In this life, that ancient devotion has also become something entirely their own: they fell in love. Whatever force compels Kamathariel to find and protect Venn did not demand that love of him. That was his choice.
His resurrection has also given Kamathariel a fierce appreciation for the life he still possesses. Following the Oath of Glory, he seeks to make his second chance worthy of having been given at all- to grow stronger, accomplish deeds worth remembering, and leave the world greater than he found it.
Kamathariel does not know who he may have been across all those forgotten lives, nor whether his bond with Venn is truly a blessing or a curse.
For now, he knows only this:
He has died. He has returned. He has found Venn once more. And this life is his to live.
