Background

Astraelis was raised in a temple dedicated to Lathander, brought to the temple as a child after priests noticed her celestial heritage. The priests there believed she was touched by Lathander's light, and raised her among the acolytes. There she earned a reputation of being brilliant, albeit slightly exhausting.

In her mid-teens, her powers manifested during a dawn prayer ritual. She instinctively unleashed a surge of radiant arcane magic, illuminating the entire chamber. Instead of channeling the divine power like a cleric, her magic came from withing her bloodline. Some priests celebrated it as a sign that she carried celestial magic in her veins. Others worried that arcane sorcery was less disciplined than divine magic.

Astraelis began having strange dreams of stars and distant light. Symbols she doesn’t recognize, ruins she’s never seen. A voice speaks to her that she can’t fully hear.

Some temple elders believe it is a divine calling, others believe it to be an ill omen and wished to cast her out. The priests eventually agreed to send Astraelis out- not only to learn of her own visions, but to investigate divine and celestial anomalies.

So Astraelis joined the Syndicate to follow the trail of the vision; and less importantly, investigate for her temple...
