If death should claim Jue before the debt of blood is repaid, the body is to be restored through magic—Raise Dead, Resurrection, or True Resurrection—but the ritual must follow a precise, shadowed path. The ritual is to be performed in the forest at night, away from the gaze of the moon. Three corvid skulls must be prepared and arranged in a triangle upon the earth. A single raven feather is to be placed atop the chest where a heart would lie, or in the closest equivalent location if the body is incomplete. Jue’s final instruction: ash of the darkest wood available is to be sprinkled over the body. The caster must then circle the triangle five times, counterclockwise, letting the shadows linger and twist with each step. Only once the cry of a raven is heard may the resurrection magic be called upon. If no cry comes, or if shadows stir unnaturally, the ritual is to be abandoned immediately: the caster must flee without turning back, for forces linger that are neither dead nor living. Those who perform this rite are warned: for thirteen nights following, faceless figures may appear in dreams, and the soul may not rest until the ritual is properly completed.
