Infernal Pursuit

-------
Duke Ulder Ravengard of Baldur's Gate invited a party to the Kismet Derby. To participate, to guard, it is still unclear. Aber, Alvis, Ivor, Snap, and myself were all thrown into Avernus by surprise cultists. Let me be the first to say that the hells are unpleasant. Someone I believe was a rakshasha named Mahati summoned us. A rival of Mad Maggie, the denizen of Avernus had many soul coins of his stolen. He provided the means to build an infernal vehicle and sent us off. If we retrieved at least seven coins, we would be permitted to leave. I was not a fan of this deal.
Our different vehicles pursued different camps of Mad Maggie's people. While Snap was turned invisible to swipe coins, Alvis disguised himself as one of the rec caps swooning over a medusa. Somehow they succeeded and found five coins... Snap didn't want to risk further.
Then, we approached a caravan of Mad Maggie's, and decided to choose the attack. It went alright, but chaotically. Our vehicle was quickly damaged to nearly beyond repair, but once we split and began damaging the drivers of the attackers, the tides turned. At some point I recall a slaad. Regardless we saved the creatures inside, who offered to fix our vehicle army as thanks. We looted thirteen coins then rested before Mahati's next orders came through, and we were released through a portal back to Baldur's Gate.
On the other side, Mad Maggie was, well, mad. A Roc and some Meregons attacked, grabbing innocents and using them to feed their infernal machines. We ran forward and did what we could to strike down the fiends, though at a point Mad Maggie grew bored. She said she would remember this, then called her minions back. Mahati paid us for our time and amusing effort and left us be.
I have decided I do not like Baldur's Gate. -Sylkran "Sylk" Teke'zynge

What the hell was even that? We got transported to Avernus into a hellish car race. Not funny.
I wanted to meet the Duke's son instead.

This was one hell of a job.
We were invited by Duke Ravengard to the city of Baldur's Gate to participate in a pretty cool derby.
We didn't do that.
Instead, cultists dragged us down into Avernus, to participate in a much more exciting, although deadly, derby. Our goal was to collect seven soul coins for Matahi, from their rival Mad Meggy. We had to choose modules for some infernal machine to race around with, and I heavily insisted on taking a thunder cannon. We barely used the machine.
Before the race, we stumbled onto some devilish fey creature working for Mad Meggy. We devised a plan: Alvin would disguise as one of them, while I went invisible and pick pocketed them for coin. In the midst of it, Alvin had another infernal idea: instead act as a mechanic and disable their vehicles' breaks. I was successful in my search and found five coins, though was a little too eager, and we left before they got too suspicious.
Then, we went onwards on our machine. We had many options on how to proceed and chose to fight. It was a difficult fight, considering the creatures were so damn tough, but we prevailed and stole their machines. Plus, I freed some guys with really big heads, apparently slaves meant to repair machines forever. They were happy with the killing of their previous owners and helped our own machine. We also found way enough coin for quota!
Finally, a portal to the surface opened back up. Going through, we noticed some of Mad Meggy's infernal goons were attacking the city and its people. We went forward and began attacking these monsters, until suddenly... they vanished. We didn't get a single kill on them. Oh well.
So what did we do? Live, I suppose. Matahi paid us for our efforts, and we left. Eh. Sure.
With resolve,
Snap
