Darius Ironheart is a Goliath Paladin who swore the Oath of Vengeance after his tribe was attacked and nearly destroyed by ruthless raiders. He survived, but many of the people he grew up with did not. Unable to forget what happened, Darius swore that those responsible would one day answer for what they had done.
Since then, he has traveled from place to place, protecting those who cannot defend themselves and hunting those who prey upon the weak. He is usually calm, disciplined, and honorable, but cruelty and injustice can quickly bring out his temper. His words can become harsh when angered, and once Darius believes someone is truly wicked, convincing him to show mercy is difficult.
His travels have already brought him close to death and into situations he still doesn't fully understand. Recently, strange dreams have begun haunting him with visions of a silent white beach, a crimson pavilion, and a pale figure bound by enormous black chains. The figure seems to know Darius and has asked him a question he still cannot answer: “Would you like to go home?”
Darius doesn't yet know what the dreams mean or what lies ahead. For now, he continues following his oath, searching for those responsible for his tribe's fate and helping people he encounters along the way. He asks for little in return, as he has a little interest in wealth for his own sake. He keeps what he needs to maintain his weapons, armor, and supplies, seeing them as tools that allow him to continue his oath rather than possessions to be treasured.
