Joining the Server & Getting Started

In order to join the server, you must pass the quiz as prompted by the join application. Answers to server-specific questions can be found in this article, and in the Character Creation article. Answers to gameplay questions can be found in the 5e SRD rules.
After joining, then next step is creating your character.
Once your character is created and approved, you are good to jump right in! Check out Playing the Game

A West Marches & Living World

A West March is a gameplay style that is player-planned and player-driven! You may be playing with a different DM and different party members for any session. A living world means that gameplay continues outside of standard sessions. This is done through real-time text RP. The timezone of this living world is in EST

Player Age Requirements

The Glassfang Syndicate is an 18+ space! While we do not allow NSFW content, we do work with mature themes.

Tech Requirements

We use the following to run this server. We are happy to help players learn these programs, but please be sure your devices are compatible with them prior to joining.

roll20 for character sheets and our VTT
Discord for voice chat in sessions and for text RP
westmarches.games connected to discord for all logging, purchasing, session scheduling, and server documents

The Setting

The Glassfang Syndicate is played in the traditional Forgotten Realms setting as published by TSR Inc and Wizards of the Coast. We try to keep lore as close to canon as possible, while still encouraging player and DM creativity.

You may make your PC from 2014 or 2024, you cannot mix and match reprinted content. See the links in #server-info for a comprehensive list of allowed content for either build option

Note: All our DMs must use the 2024 rule set when running sessions

Member Roles

Staff:

Owner: self-explanatory
Admin: maintains all server documents, bots, and keeps the server clear and organized
Moderator: Ensures this server is a safe and healthy environment, handles disputes between members
Helpers: Review new PC sheets, has extensive knowledge of server rules

DMs

Head DM: has extensive knowledge of 5e gameplay, reviews sessions, homebrew, and maintains the mechanical balance of the server in addition to running sessions
Lorekeeper: DMs with extensive knowledge or experience with parts of canon lore. This may refer to canon locations, NPCs, or factions. These DMs also manage the privileges that are unlocked with renown for their specific lore section
DM: Runs sessions, can use custom content
New DM: DMs who recently started running games on this server. May only use core content and run Adventurer's League Modules

Players

Adventurer: Your standard player with an approved PC on the server
Visitor: Those who have not yet had a PC approved on the server
