The Relic

13-14 Flamerule, 1502 DR

Caelen of the Amber Bough sent out for us to recover an escaped prisoner. Recently, Lady Naivara Vesperleaf had escaped the Autumn Gate, a prison of her own design that the Autumn Court threw her in due to treachery. Caelen, as the Gate's new keeper, begged us to capture Vesperleaf with discretion. Alvis, Arlis, Mimsy, Snap, and I (Sylk) pursued the road to the fort where Vesperleaf had hidden herself.

From the balcony, the archfey in question mocked us, saying she had no quarrel with us and only wanted her freedom. We pursued, and quickly discovered a special ward on the bridge in the moat that teleported folks to the side. After some experimentation, Snap found the right place to enter from, and we followed. A musical trap stopped Mimsy and Arlis in their tracks, forcing them to dance to a flutist's tune. Alvis and I played our respective instruments in a song with the spirit, and when the harmony ended, so did the trap. We found a couple poison traps, enchanted food, and a sleeping trap much to Alvis and Snap's dismay, but made it relatively unscathed to the top floor.

Vesperleaf stated once again she would rather not fight us. She summoned draconic-like beings, and the fight began. Her moves were impossible to pin down, her dragons, lethal. It took all of our force and more to defeat one of the dragons, after we all decided we'd rather survive the job than get paid. So Lady Vesperleaf escaped on the back of the other dragon. We failed.

13th of Flamerule, 1502 DR

Myself, Slick, Missy, Alavis, and Arless.

Whereas last job was incredibly deadly at every turn, this one was one long, exhausting and lopsided battle. We were tasked by Calen, a member of the Keeper of the Amber Gate, to re-emprison some archfey Lady Narvina. She was suspected of crimes against a fey court, then escaped. To note, we would not be paid a coin for success. All we would be paid is what we could find within the place. Fine.

We first had to climb to her, to the top of some fort. Admittedly, it was amusing. One thing before a bridge teleported us just enough to the right so that we fell into water. Another made Missy and Arless start floating and dancing, which Slick and Arless played music alongside a spectral flutist to make stop. Then I went to sleep because of a trap, and nothing more. Along the way, we found a few chests with a decent amount of coin, which was nice, though no special items or anything of the sorts.

Then we got to her, and the nightmare began. While Alavis did get knocked out and a few others neared the same fate, this fight was not as difficult as it was simply tedious. To put it simply, nothing worked. It was her and two strange fey dragons. I attempted to dazzle her numerous times, to no avail each time. Arless tried to take hold of her, both by hand and with magical plants, and she shrugged it all off. Missy did get both dragons under her charm, until she simply broke his concentration and the wizardry without laying a finger on him. Slick put a ton of force into one of the dragons, something that would have knocked any of us down, only for it to barely be dented. And Alavis... did his best. She was too slippery, and we therefore decided this was not worth it. Not only would we not be paid for her arrest, but our lives were on the line, so we let her leave, though taking down one dragon.

I'm not mad by the outcome of the situation. In fact, we got all the pay we could have, and that's the more important part. She didn't seem like a dangerous individual either, but the fey are odd. I'm simply a little disappointed that it was all we could do.

This job wasn't like the other ones. We were sent out by Caelen of the Amber Bough to recover an escaped prisoner. Lady Naivara Vesperleaf. She escaped the Amber Gate which... after everything sounds real fuckin' similar to Solia's eye door thing. We had to search a magically trapped fort for her. Eventually we found her, tried to stop her, but... it didn't go well. She managed to escape. But... somethin' tells me that... that was probably for the better.

I think I'm gonna have to track down Vesperleaf. She said she was the one that created the Keystone Relic.. the thing that was supposed to imprison her. If I can find her and talk to her... maybe I can get more answers about what the fuck these Guardians and Gatekeepers are for Solia... See Sylk's and Snap's reports for more fuckin' details. I just... I can't right now...
