Appearance: Fenris is a tall tan skinned male. Stands at 7 foot 9 inches tall with short brown hair that's shaved very short in the back. Has blue eyes and is rather muscular from his years working the farm and then waging into battles. Weighs a little over 300lbs (313lbs to be exact) and dons chainmail, a shield and wields a longsword when engaging in a fight. Upon the shield is the symbol of Tempus, which he also wear around his neck in the form of a holy symbol. (His holy symbol is tied around his neck with simple twine.) Wears a white and red tabard with a red and gold trimmed sash over his chainmail.
Personality: Even though he's a cleric of Tempus, at heart, he's a simple country boy. Warm and personable and always willing to help out those in need. Loves a good joke and spending his time outside. In battle, he faces the enemies head on, doing his best to protect his allies. Doesn't seek needless violence though. Won't go out of his way to kill those who've lost their will to fight or non-combatants.
Background: Raised by a human couple in the small town of Secomber after they found him as a baby floating down the River Delimbiyr in a basket. Their names are Gerald and Marla Corhelm. Farmers, he was out helping his father in the fields even at a young age. As he grew, his giant heritage became apparent as well as a boon when it came to all the heavy lifting. At the age of 19, a group of mercenaries came under attack by goblins near the village. Being nearby, Fenris heard sounds of the battle and rushed to see what was going on. He came upon the bloody scene of the last of the mercenaries alive being flanked by the last two goblins. Thinking nothing of his own safety, he rushed in to help, picking up the fallen blade of one of the mercenaries and slashing at one of the goblins. Untrained, he only managed to wound it before it stabbed him in the gut, but his sudden appearance startled the goblins enough that it gave the surviving mercenary enough of an opening to finish them off. The mercenary turned out to be a man by the name of Gavin Talborne, a traveling cleric of Tempus. Seeing Fenris' wound, he rushed over to heal him and to thank him for his rescue. Gavin stayed in Secomber for a few days to recover and the two talked quite a bit, becoming fast friends. Before he left, Gavin offered to take Fenris under his wing, teach him how to fight, and if he wished it, the teachings of Tempus. Having enjoyed the feeling of helping someone in need as he did when he saved Gavin, he accepted the offer and for the next seven years the two began to travel around the land, helping those in need, while also getting into a bit of trouble here and there. (Nothing major, just stuff like drunken brawls, etc.) A few weeks before coming to join the Glassfang Syndicate, the two parted ways when Gavin felt his time of adventuring had come to an end and he wanted to settle down. Understanding, he wished his friend the best of luck and continued on without him. It quickly became apparent to Fenris though how little he was going to be able to accomplish by himself and so he set off to join up with the Syndicate.
The first half of the month was pretty quiet but that came to an end when the Syndicate came under attack by a large force of goblinoids and fiends. We all rushed out to defend the grounds and while it was chaotic as most large scale battles are, we prevailed, though a good number of kobolds on our side had been slain. After the battle and the numerous bodies having been cleaned off the field, things have pretty much returned to normal I guess. Solia seems off but she has many good friends looking out for her, so I'm sure she'll be ok.
Traveled to the city of Phlan in the Moonsea region where we met our employer. They requested aid in stopping a force from the Cult of the Dragon from getting their hands on some sort of powerful magic that lay a few days away. The others went about their business in either procuring help or researching while I couldn't find much on the matter at all. The next morning we set out early and ended up running into a stone giant but through diplomacy, any fight that may have happened was avoided. We were tasked with delivering a message to another stone giant as payment for our passage through the stone giant lands and so we set off. Another few days of travel and we found ourselves staring into a crater easily two-hundred feet deep. Our group split, with some of them turning invisible and scouting out the area while myself and another hung back as to not alert some orcs we had seen. One of the scouting party unfortunately caught the attention of the orcs and hearing them ready to attack, rushed in but again, one of the party wished diplomacy. I let them talk, the orcs gathered their leader and as one of the group and him came to a deal of one thousand gold pieces to talk to the stone giant that was seen within the crater, the orc leader looked to me and commanded me to drop the magic I had about me. I've found myself becoming less and less patient these days so I told him no and if he had a problem with it I could challenge him for leadership of his pathetic little clan of orcs. He took that about as well as could be expected and thinking he had any sort of advantage due to the numbers, he told his men to kill me. One attempted to but quickly turned into a fine red mist as he jumped into the area of my magic. I think I actually saw the orc leader realize his mistake but being to proud or stupid, he pressed the assault. A war horn was sounded and many more creatures started to come up from the depths of the crater but they were no match for us. Eventually the stone giant appeared and waved us down so we all jumped and through the use of magic, floated down to the center. The stone giant asked us our business there and the message was delivered. Upon our words, he didn't really seem to mind but also told us there was no powerful magic there.....while he stood beside a silvery fount of water. One of the group realized the giant was possessed and as we formulated an idea as to how to help with that, a woman wizard on a wyvern arrived and flew down upon us. As the fight began, I used my magic again to harm a fiendish creature that appeared. Apparently it was the stone giant's pet but the stone giant announced himself as tyrant lord something or other. The battle continued, the wizard on the wyvern kept launching powerful explosions at us but also catching the stone giant and his men in it. I take it this angered him a bit because he tossed a boulder at the wyvern and seeing my chance as we had no way of hitting her well from the distance, help alter the course of the boulder which was going to veer off. This caused the wyvern to fall, hurting it greatly and killing the wizard. The wyvern rose and attempted to stab at me with it's tail but to no avail and as it tried to fly away, I brought it back down once again where I delivered the final blow to it with a swift sword slash. This left the stone giant as last real threat and he was quickly done in by a few more well placed strikes from the group. After we gathered prisoners to take back to our employer, we headed back and gave our report on everything that happened. We were told that they'd try and dispel the fount of what was not water but pure magic and thanked us for our service. We were paid and headed back to the Syndicate.
Joining this job, apparently this was to follow up on some hag trouble the previous group had run into. This lead us to the swamps, where upon approaching a large tree, we were attacked by strange creatures guarding it. The fight was close, as some of the creatures had a very strong poison upon their tentacles. I lost consciousness for a few seconds but Artemyeva woke me back up. After a few of the creatures fell, the fight became much easier and the rest were quickly felled. Willow appeared soon after, having been running late to the meet up and we all proceeded further in after tending to our wounds. Inside the tree, a few of the group turned a corner and I could hear them talking to someone but as I was about to move forward, a strange creature started to approach from another passage, almost like it was trying to sneak up behind them. I drew my sword and the fight was underway. Among the creatures, what looked to be an undead giant head with one large eye and multiple little eyes attached to the top of it by fleshy stalks was floating about. Out of the little eyes, strange beams shot out and hit a few of the group but it was quickly taken down along with the other creatures. One last bit of mending of our wounds and we traveled further in to find two hags in the middle of some strange ritual. Talking wasn't happening and the fight quickly turned south as a few of the group were knocked out by powerful spells. Luckily we still had healing magics at our disposal but during the fight Artemyeva fell. We killed the hags with one being tossed off the side of a deep chasm and using magic to lock in Artemyeva soul, we quickly made our way out when Willow said something dangerous was about to occur. I assume us interrupting whatever the hags were doing caused some kind of explosion. Artemyeva saved my life though, the least I can do is save hers.
This job had us stick close to the Syndicate. We were tasked with meeting up with an elderly woman in Shining Falls that asked us to find out where the creatures she had been sending out had disappeared to. Apparently she had been making undead squirrels, which I'm honestly not a big fan of, though she was using a strange flower to do it. We set out with one of these creatures leading us. Leading us deep into the forest to a cave, it continued on in only to explode as it neared a strange door that was just in the middle of this cave. Realizing that we wouldn't be able to open this highly protected door, we started heading back as we were only tasked with finding out what had happened to the creatures. However, as we left, demons set upon us. Slicing our way through, one demon crushed Tova with a mighty blow but I was able to heal her before death found her. After the demons were put down, we quickly left the area as we heard more coming. We made it back to Shining Falls with no further incidents and the elderly woman was happy with our work.
Tasked with going back home to Secomber to help Raurus again, he now had figured out where the last area was pointing. Trudging back in and through the Forlorn Hills, we were surprisingly not accosted by the bandits we fought previously. The walk was actually quite peaceful until we reached our destination. As we got closer, a strange creature crawled up from the water and started attacking us with it's large pincers. We made quick work of it though and proceeded further up where we found the area covered in webs. As one of the group started messing with the webs, a group of giant spiders emerged and the fight was on. More and more spiders started to arrive as the battle waged but eventually we slayed them all. With the webs burned away during the fight, the way down the well was clear. Traveling down by rope, we found ourselves in a ruin of what looked like a possible church of some kind. Looking around, we were ambushed by creatures with stone like skin that flew about the area. As we fought, I was surprised to find that a different creature was awaiting up on the ceiling of this place. It wrapped it's tendrils around me and yarded me up but was unable to get through my armor very well so it quickly dropped me. After a few close calls, we killed the last creature and Raurus investigated around. Happy with what he found, we made the trek back to Secomber.
The job had us going to the town of Parnast to help prepare it for an upcoming attack they had been told was coming from someone named Bad Fruul. When we arrived, we came to find out that the town had been under sabotage so we set about to find out who had been doing so. Turns out there was a lot of infighting within the town as well as the mayor's daughter was in love with the son of the mayor's biggest opponent. Investigating around, some of the horses started to go wild and I realized they had been poisoned. Using healing magic upon them, we were able to stave off the effects of the poison and stopped them from hurting anyone in their distress. Following the clues, it led to the lover of the mayors daughter but as we continued through the clues, we realized something was off. It turns out two brothers that had been providing intel had set up everyone and been the ones sabotaging the town. The brother we captured said a orc leader had their mother and that's why they did it. We went and attacked the orc and goblin encampment and put many of them down though a good number ran away. Turns out the brother had lied, and they were just working with the orcs. At least we were able to put a bit of a delay in any plans of attack.
Heading back home for the job, we were tasked with escorting a man by the name of Raurus Thane. He had gotten ahold of information that led him to a location nearby in the Forlorn Hills but wasn't sure what we'd find. As we traveled through the hills, we were stumbled upon a haphazard ambush set for us. Diplomacy quickly falling apart, we fought our way through the bandits with a few of them giving up. We were told their boss wanted Raurus for some reason, so we left them tied up there so they couldn't follow us even though we knew it'd only be a matter of time before they escaped the bindings. Finally arriving to where Raurus said we'd find something, we found a large stone circle with a fixture in the middle of it. Before we could investigate, harpies who had nested nearby flew down upon us. The fight was rough but victorious we were. After the fight, Raurus found a secret hidden area under one of the stones that had some items within. Happy with the find, we set back towards Secomber.
The group gathered at the Syndicate and proceeded to follow up on the mission we were given to find the Emerald Enclave bastion in the nearby woods around the Greypeak Mountains. The only real clue we were given was that the tree the bastion was located at was in the middle of the forest. Using the skills at our disposal, we trekked further and further into the forest being lead by Yargol who seemed to be pretty familiar with forest travel. We eventually found ourselves at an area where the path split off in multiple directions. I spotted a large set of exposed roots by on of the paths and thought they might belong to this large tree we had been looking for. The others agreed but when I continued forward, I immediately sunk up to my midsection in mud. Feeling myself starting to sink deeper, I managed to pull from my pack my coil of rope and toss one end to the group. It took quite a while but they were finally able to pull me free. Astra slapped my backside again, not really sure why she's so keen on doing so but afterwards the mud was cleaned from my clothes magically. A few of the others spotted more runes and Yargol was able to read them. Finding the one labeled "road" we followed that path to a small opening. In said opening was a ring of stones with runes with a well in the middle. As we entered the forest closed behind us and the path we had just been on disappeared. Through some trial and error, we managed to figure out the right way of activating a few of the stones that allowed us to travel deeper into the forest where we came upon a massive tree with what looked like a face on it. It asked us why we were there. We each stated our reasons and were teleported onward where we met with the Enclave. Each of us spoke with different members, well Astra did less talking and did more beard sniffing but I digress. The leader wished for us to form an alliance with them and work with them to figure out who was behind all the goings on lately. We agreed and then were given pins with magic upon them to make travel easier between the Syndicate and the Heartwood Tree. I returned to the Syndicate while a few of the others stayed and spoke with the Enclave further.
We set out to investigate more of what had been happening in the area for the Emerald Enclave. In our search around the forest near the Greypeak Mountains, we came across more of the strange brands but they seemed to have exhausted any magic they had. Eventually we stumbled upon a destroyed farmstead that also had some of the same markings. A few of the group moved silently forward and Arlis went into the overgrowth that was surrounding the destroyed homestead. That's when we came under attack. Strange living vines started whipping out and I rushed forward to join Arlis on the front lines. As we were fighting, a loud noise came from the homestead and out emerged a large troll covered in vines and moss. It jumped down to where Arlis and I were and started clawing at us. It's claw rent through my chainmail but through some healing magic, I was able to stay on my feet. Arlis and I started chopping at the beast but it seemed to be rapidly healing itself. One of the group hit it with fire magic though and the healing seemed to stop for a few moments. As the battle raged, more of the living vines fell and eventually Arlis struck the final blow on the troll by coating his blade in oil and lighting it as he slashed the beast through it's torso. After the battle ended, we were approached by a member of the Enclave who gave us pins and a mission to find the bastion of the Enclave and inform them of our findings when we could. We returned to the Syndicate afterwards, a little bloody but no worse for wear.
The small town of Longsaddle hired us to rid them of some griffons that had nested nearby and were flying in and killing their horses. Upon arriving there, we went to the local tavern where we met with our contact. As we were discussing the job, one of the townsfolk ran in and rattled off the market was under attack by griffons. We hurried there and found a few young griffons attacking some of the horses. We went on the attack but in the scuffle a few of the townsfolk that were trying to help were killed as well as a couple of the horses. I managed to knock out one of the griffons but the others took off. Afterwards we went on the hunt. Managed to stumble upon some wild hungry beasts but through the ever useful trick of just throwing food at them, we made our way by without a fight. One of the group found some strange looking metal and picked it up as we continued along finally finding the nest. It was high upon a cliff and underneath were bodies of what I assume was another group of people hired to take out the griffons. We found some useful gloves that helped with the climb but no sooner had we started that they noticed my presence. I really am not built for being stealthy.....The fight began and even after a few close calls, we bested them. We gathered a few of the eggs for the town, I assume for them to raise as mounts and also found some interesting items amongst the bones and debris of the nest. Headed back to Longsaddle and received our payment.
