The Syndicate has been contacted by Theodora Glintwick, an independent arcanist attending an academic conference near Loudwater. Her beloved pseudodragon familiar, Oz, has been taken by her longtime rival, Erasmus, as part of an escalating feud of magical pranks and professional spite.
With Erasmus away from his hilltop residence, Theodora is hiring a discreet team to retrieve Oz before the matter becomes any more embarrassing. She also has a particular interest in one of Erasmus’s prized trophies, should the party find an opportunity to recover it.
Expect magical oddities, light infiltration, household hazards, and wizardly nonsense.

5/16 - The Wizard and Oz
16 Mirtul, 1502 DR
Wizards Theodora Glintwick and Erasmus are prankster rivals. The latter has recently taken the former's pseudodragon familiar, Oz, as part of the two's japes. Theodora summoned a group from the Syndicate. She warned of an assistant who may be on guard, but also mentioned paying extra if we retrieved the trophy of what Theodora considered a rigged dueling contest in Erasmus' favor. Our party consisted of Loderr Dragonsword, Roteye Bogrut, Luckyfoot, Zaerius Morggoth, and myself, Sylk Teke'zynge. We set out for Erasmus' cabin located outside of Loudwater.
Outside was the assistant and apprentice of the rival mage, Bram Chillroot. Inebriated with a jujak joint, the druid was both guarding the premises and attempting to calm himself over the stresses of his apprenticeship. Though he wanted to appease his family, Loderr and I convinced him to investigate the Glassfang Syndicate instead for relaxing and arcane knowledge. Bram left us to continue exploring.
Behind the cabin were painted-on doors, so we entered through the front. A note at the entrance read, "Shhh. Feed pets. Polish trophy until shiny. PW \= Barty's full name." The riddle instructed us to be silent in the main chamber, humorously demonstrated by some of our party. We opened a few doors, finding a restroom in the ceiling and an alchemist's laboratory under the floor, but the non-trapped one led us to Erasmus' study. Inside a case contained the trophy Theodora sought, as well as a trophy claiming a certain "Bartholomew" had won. Luckyfoot speaking the ooze's name unlocked the case. Though when he picked up the correct trophy, the two incorrect trophies revealed themselves as mimics. Quickly bested, we investigated the bedchambers next.
Inside, Oz was trapped in a glass sphere within the gelatinous cube, Bartholomew. With the leftovers of mimic outside, we convinced "Barty" to release the pseudodragon. Afterwards, some of the party finished pranking the study for Theodora's sake. However, I found the venture to be quite... ostentatious.
We returned Oz to Theodora, were paid for our efforts, and returned to the Syndicate.

A Record of the Rescue of Oz on the 16th of Mirtul, 1502 DR
This task was another unusual one. It was upon the request of one "Theodora Glintwick" that we were to rescue her familiar from the home of one "Erasmus" who had kidnapped the Pseudo dragon by the name of Oz. From my understanding, this was a relatively harmless prank meant to embarrass Miss Glintwick and through our rescue we were to retrieve both the familiar and a trophy that Erasmus apparently valued quite highly. After a description of the home and Erasmus' apprentice, as well as our objectives, we set out to investigate the home.
Upon finding the home, we found the apprentice relaxing outside. One of my comrades, Sylk, suggested speaking with the apprentice to attempt to negotiate entry. As soon as he set out, another employee of the syndicate by the name of Zaerius opted to sneak around behind the house, despite the heavy armor he wore. The apprentice was sufficiently distracted so he had not noticed Zaerius, nor did he notice our third member, Roteye, who decided to follow Zaerius. After a short time, I heard the sound of metal striking stone, which luckily did not alert the apprentice. Soon enough, Loderr, the final member of our group, opted to approach the apprentice and Sylk, joining the conversation. It seemed to go well, as the apprentice seemed happy to leave the premises soon after. After investigating the back of the home, we found that Zaerius had attempted to break through some illusion of a door, which was revealed to be simply a wall.
Approaching the front door, we found our way unbarred and upon entering I found a note that contained useful information: Firstly, we were to remain silent, secondly, we had to feed some kind of pet, thirdly, the "PW is Barty's full name". Upon speaking in the main room, people who spoke would be teleported outside. The main room was quite unusual, with a door on the ceiling and on the floor, chairs and tables on various walls and so forth. The ceiling door led to a bathroom, the floor was an alchemy room. Besides those two doors, there were a pair of doors on the back wall, the first was trapped and quite painful, but it only led to a store-room.
The final door lead to a trophy room, which contained the trophy that was the secondary objective of our job. Reading the trophy informed me of the full name of the pet, "Bartholomew" which I spoke aloud. Upon doing so, the trophy case clicked and was unlocked. Upon opening the case and taking said trophy, a pair of mimics came to life and attacked us. After dispatching them, we investigated a door in the trophy room which contained our last objectives, Bartholomew and Oz, the latter being trapped in a glass orb inside the former, who was a gelatinous cube. Upon feeding the former, we were able to free the latter. Some of my comrades then opted to enact some minor pranks as a form of revenge against Erasmus.
Finally, we returned to Miss Glintwick and gave her a report, handing over both the familiar and the trophy we took on her behalf. After a brief conversation, we received our pay and her gratitude.

Oh, how some waste their time and potentials... Some scholars really have nothing better to do then to waste their time and that of others with trivial and moronic tasks instead of actually doing anything of great importance, such as advancing the world's knowledge or crafting the arts that move the souls... These Theodora and Erasmus squader their potential by getting into a petty trickery warfare that we were now involved in. We were sent there to recover Oz, a pseudodragon familiar of Theodora, steal a trophy from Erasmus and wreck his abode with harmless pranks, as they say. Being that Theodora used the resources to hire highly trained mercenaries for such menial task, we did it with no troubles at all. I did find quite a curious trinket though, a greatsword hilt that can constantly bleed while holding it in both hands, it shall be a great addition to my art... In conclusion, Illusionists are too stupid and frivolous, and I recommend that we shall reconsider accepting any Syndicate prospects that want to follow such immature arcana arts.
