Backstory:

Made to serve, and only to serve. Unlike most Warforged, Aegis possessed no will nor emotion. He was meant to be an silent bulwark, with all his processing power diverted to battle tactics instead of sentience. And once the war ended, Aegis was simply... discarded, left to rust on the battlefield. After all, he wasn't sentient.

One day, an elven artificer happened upon Aegis, and upon noticing the oddities in him, proceeded to fix him up and add her own personal touch.

Aegis suddenly woke up, and for the first time in his life, he had free will. He could think of things that aren't war strategies. He could feel the rage he had towards his previous owners, and the happiness at being alive again. He could also speak Elvish, for some reason. It was... overwhelming. It was then that Aegis found... something in his computing systems. A... dial, of sorts. And when he turned it, those feelings faded, until he felt nothing. Realizing what it is, Aegis turned the dial again, but only slightly. Enough to feel, but not enough to overwhelm. And so, with his newfound freedom, he chose to explore the world.
