Varenel (VAR-eh-nehl) stands 5'9' tall. He has bronze-toned skin and water-blue eyes. Varenel wears traveling clothes with a battered black beret on his sandy-blonde, shoulder-length hair. His ink-stained fingers and the bundle of parchments hint at his profession as a scribe or scholar. A battered medallion with a rod and sandglass hangs from a string around his neck.
Growing up in a poor circuit priest's family was hard, but it afforded Varenel the opportunity to read and educate himself. Of all the relationships Varenel has now, the person he cares most for is his twin Faelric.
Varenel owes a debt to a lifetime politician (details TBD) who helped pay for his schooling in Vilandry. While in his wizard apprenticeship, Varenel fell in love with a wealthy merchant's daughter. He regrets not being more bold in pursuing Narelle before she left eastern Gildas.
Verenel has come to Chateauclair to look for a friend he lost touch with. His superiors authorized this trip because they want information on what is happening in the city. After he arrived, he heard about strange happenings that have piqued his curiosity.
