Alaric Fenholm cuts a lean, almost corpse-gaunt figure, more scholar than soldier, though the years have carved something harder into him than simple learning. His dark hair hangs loose and damp around a narrow face marked by sleepless eyes, sunken cheeks, and the faintly feverish stare of a man who has seen too much of what waits beyond the next moment.
His body is covered in black orcish tattoos: harsh angular marks of rank, loyalty, prophecy, and survival. Some were granted. Some were endured. Some he carved into himself. Most prominent is the eye upon his forehead—once merely painted as a sign of obedience to Zorak Three-Eyes, now grown into something more terrible. It resembles a living third eye, half-orcish in shape, half-arcane in nature, opening when fate bends too sharply around him.
Around his neck hangs a single chain bearing a small glass jar. Suspended inside is the preserved eye of a hag, clouded and yellowed, floating in brackish fluid. Alaric wears it not as a trophy, but as a vow.
He now calls himself a hag hunter.
Since the fall of Zorak, Alaric has become convinced that hags were behind the warlord’s death. Whether they struck the killing blow, whispered the prophecy that led to it, or twisted destiny itself, Alaric believes their kind planted the doom that brought Greenhold low. He speaks of hags with cold contempt, not rage. To him, they are not merely monsters, but parasites on fate—creatures that bargain with grief, feed on weakness, and turn the future into a trap.
His owl familiar, Nyx, is never far from him, watching from a branch, shoulder, or the back of his rune-bound flying broom. The broom itself is weathered and dark, wrapped in charms, hag-bones, and scraps of swamp reed, serving as both steed and symbol of his strange independence.
Alaric is no longer the careful servant trying to survive Zorak’s court. He is something sharper now: a diviner with a vendetta, a fugitive prophet, and a man who believes the only way to escape a cursed future is to hunt down the ones who wrote it.
