There May Be Feathers Involved
Nox, Do, Osh, and I, Viola Moonflower, were sent by the guild to the upper wards to help Lord Calran with some noises and dust problems he had been dealing with. Lord Calran gave us a tour of the place while also extolling how generous he was and how his family all gives the same name to each boy and girl born to the Calran Name, Boys are called Calran and Girls and named Calrana. When asked how that works when multiple girls are given the same name he simply replied “they always know which one is being called on.” while going up the massive tower he lives in we did in fact hear noises coming from the attic. Lord Calran was pleased that he was not the only one hearing these noises.
When we got to the attic we found it was filled with dust mephits. The battle wasn’t that hard save for a moment when most of us fell asleep yet we beat them back to whatever elemental plane they originated from. It was after we beat them that we heard voices on the roof. Osh went to the roof to overhear what was going on and we found out there were some creatures calling themselves Modrons and that they were responsible for the capture and transport of the dust mephits and another more devilish fiend who all escaped mid transport. We promised them we would hunt down the last detainee who conveniently had just captured and ran off with Lord Calran. While chasing the monster down in a high speed flight chase I was able to catch up with them by tapping into my celestial heritage to sprout spectral wings and casting a dimension door on myself and Do who had his own method of flying. The modrons had lent us use of some mechanical beetles to try and catch up with the big fly fiend but my method was an easier way to close the sizable gap between us and the Lord Napping Fly. after we hopped through the dimensional door I was able to get just close enough to the fiend to cast a slow spell and we caught up to the Buff Fly fiend and forced him to land on the top floor of another building. Nox was able to join Me and Do but it sounds like Osh had problems controlling the robo beetles or something about sky bandits I think? So we had to fight the fiend without Osh.
The battle with the fiend wasn’t too challenging though I admit freely I was not the main target of the monster's ire and Do did look like he was in really bad shape from that monster stabbing him with its needle like nose. It also tried some droning noise thing but it didn’t look like it did much. We were able to save Lord Calran from being a part of a fiendish feast and let the Modrons know we were unable to capture the fiend and sent it back to whatever plane they had first caught the beast from. In return for our services we got the agreed reward from Lord Calran and a nifty looking ring that no one but me seemed to want. It’s main purpose seems to be keeping people warm in extreme cold.
