Rawry, or "Coop" to his friends, is a seven foot tall Leonin gun for hire. He has a big shaggy mane and a big bristly tail. He wears a cowboy hat and a long leather duster as well as a bunch of leather belts, bandoliers and gun holsters. He has a steady hand and a calm demeanour. He likes to crack wise ass jokes and speaks with a southern drawl.
Rawry was raised in the small village of Pridestone. His people are nomadic and leave the village at 16 to roam the lands until they are ready to form their own family which is when they return to mate or retire with their tail between their legs.
Young Rawry travelled on his own for a while, scraping by and fending for himself with just his claws and teeth. One day while on the road, Rawry came upon a broken down cart with an old man that was too old and frail to mend the wheel himself. His name was Augustus Kreen and he was a tinkerer and an inventor, commissioned by the city of Greymouth to built prototype weapons for its militia and navy. He offered Rawry work as his apprentice and they travelled together to start a new life.
Inbetween working the bellows, blacksmithing and running errands, young Rawry was also used to test the kickback on handheld firearms, managing to keep most of his fingers intact. After many years of working together, Augustus Kreen became rather paranoid and when a top secret project came in, he decided to leave town under the cover of night. He gifted Rawry weapons of his own and cryptically asked for help "covering his escape". Rawry managed to create a suitable distraction and kill some of the guards chasing his mentor as he got on a ship. Rawry watched it set sail before hightailing it out of Greymouth to lay low.
He decided to return home to the village of Pridestone but found that the whole place had been destroyed through some magical means. With no clue as to what really happened or who did it or whether everyone was truly dead, Rawry took jobs travelling the roads and searching for his people or anyone with information on the destruction of Pridestone. He learned that something dark and sinister had passed by shortly before the calamity. There were rumours of a caravan of black unmarked carriages with no driver.
For almost a decade, he became a gun for hire, protecting vehicles on the road. Eventually, he returned to Greymouth to seek out information, dealing with a shady broker called the Faceless One that turned up nothing but ruffled feathers. Combined with the old bounty on his head for helping Kreen, Rawry was attracting unwanted attention and had to leave Greymouth again.
He took a job running protection on a carriage with a high paying client - a noble of some lower ranked family. The destination was a city far enough away that he could lie low. Half way there, the carriage was ambushed by masked assailants. The client died and the payload was stolen. Rawry barely survived but made it to the drop off point to report what happened.
The Seven Swords mercenary company were not happy when he recounted the tale and Rawry overheard them making plans to knock him out and give him to the noble family as an apology. That's when he was approached by a strange individual with a new job, something about Saints and Chalmers.
