Fel is a Reborn Drow soldier with white hair and pale blue skin. She has a milky white film over pupilless blue eyes and a gaping hole in her chest filled with spectral blue energy. She woke up in the Underdark with no memory of her former life wearing singed leather and chainmail and a long black cloak. The only clues to her identity - a bloody tabbard bearing and a small sword on a silver chain around her neck (like a cross).
Fel wandered the (Underdark) caverns beneath the Empire as an undead entity, repellent to beasts and sentients alike. On the occasion that she happened upon any people, they tried to kill her because she looked like a zombie so she stayed away from settlements and kept to the wild caverns, making friends with myconids and poking through ancient ruins, speaking to ancients spirits who might have an answer to her only question - who am I?
Eventually, Fel bumbled into a group of mercenaries running some sort of underground operation (literally). They took advantage of her naivety to make use of her healing abilities and ominous blue fire magic. They gave her the name Fel because when they stuck their foot out in front of her when she walked by, she Fell down. It was in this way that she joined the Dark Hand, but eventually, she realised that the operation was trafficking slaves.
One night, when the guards were all drunk and asleep, Fel opened the cages and unlocked the chains, freeing the slaves. When the slavers woke up the next morning and asked where the slaves were, Fel said she let them go. In anger, the Dark Hand tried to kill her so she ran, blinding her pursuers with light to get a head start.
She managed to lose them and disappear for many years underground. In some places, she thought she could hear a woman's voice but it was completely absent in others. One day, she climbed up onto the surface and found a strange group of people with magical amulets standing in a forest clearing under a full moon. They were ambushed by unknown assailants and Fel helped fight off the attackers. Afterwards, they offered her a job.
