Previous Section: Where In The World Are We??
"Retirement" is the most common way a PC leaves The Syndicate. This means their journey as a member of the organization is completed for now. To retire a PC, head over to #westmarchesgames-requests and request retirement for that PC; list out any relevant discord roles or channels for removal. The following rules apply upon, or just prior to, a PC leaving the syndicate:
After your PC leaves The Syndicate, be sure to remove any roles you grabbed for them from #self-assign-roles as well.
Be sure to have your character's sheet saved safely in case you wish to bring them out of retirement.
If you have a free character slot, you may have a character that was previously retired return to the Syndicate. To do so, post in #westmarchesgames-requests to re-activate the character. Please include a link to the post where their original retirement was requested
All of their information, currencies, and inventory is saved on westmarches.games, and their sheet must unchanged from the time of their retirement.
In order to prevent "hot-swapping" character slots, a character must be retired for a minimum of 6 weeks prior to re-activation.
While we all wish we could play D&D 24/7 365, we understand that life happens and you may not be able to pop in for an extended period of time.
Strangers that have not done the player application within 2 weeks are kicked
Visitors may be kicked if they have not made a character within 60 days of joining the server. This is to keep our server neat and tidy, and close any gaps for potentially hacked accounts or the like. Any user that is kicked is 100% welcome to rejoin and jump in at any time!
We do not kick anyone from the server that has made a character. However, every few months we will look at the PC Bank(s) and check logs. PCs that have not been active in a few months, or PCs whose players have left from the server, will have their sheet archived in the bank. Their character page(s) will also be marked as "retired". This does not delete the sheet, and the PC can be re-activated at any time upon request. This is to prevent lagging in the PC Bank(s)
Every few months we will ask inactive DMs if they wish to keep the role. This is to help our DM numbers reflect the frequency of gameplay for our members.
Narratively, your character pays dues in exchange for The Syndicate's connections and use of their facilities. Mechanically, it is presumed these unspecified dues are taken from your character's adventure pay, lifestyle expenses, whatever. We do not intend to ever track these, or set up any systems IC or OoC to avoid paying them.
Roll20 can be prone to technical difficulties. We recommend periodically making a copy of your sheet, saving your sheet as a pdf, or taking screen shots of your sheet; should Roll20 decide to be a problem.
More source books will open up as we move forward. The two methods we have planned are:
