DTP (Downtime points) are the measurement of your character's time outside of their normal adventuring.
PCs gain downtime in the following ways:
After an adventure, downtime is automatically added to your PC by the DM. A PC gains 72 DTP after any adventure
Once per month, a PC can spend gold equal to their lifestyle, and gain a corresponding DTP. You can do this by going over to the marketplaces, opening the "Monthly Lifestyle Expenses" market and select "buy" for your PC's lifestyle.
The option to purchase lifestyle expenses resets on the 1st of every month (meaning you can buy them on Jan 31, and Feb 1; but then you need to wait until March 1 to buy them again) On the first of each month, all PCs are given a "Lifestyle purchasing token" that allow for purchasing the lifestyle.
Your PC's lifestyle should be reflected by your RP.
Some lifestyle expenses require you own a minimum level of bastion, and grant bastion orders as a result. For more information on bastions, see the Downtime Activities doc in #server-info.
Downtime Activities are what your character is doing between adventures!
The activities listed below are the current options for spending your down time. The Downtime Activities doc in #server-info explains the rules, requirements, and protocol for these activities. The cost of these activities are listed in the marketplaces on westmarches.games
The following rules apply to all DTP activities:
Traveling: Go places!
Searching: Find people, places or things!
Earning Currency: Make it rain!
Enchanting: Make magic things!
Crafting: Make non-magic things!
Competing: Fight your friends (or nemeses)!
Retraining: Make character changes!
Learning: Learn new things!
Building a Bastion: Make a house (or wizard tower, or fortress, etc)!
Recuperating: Get over that pesky curse a little faster than you normally would
Renown or adventure specific activities: Different Lore Aspects may have different DTP activities
Syndicate Tokens are an IC and OoC currency that is given to Syndicate members for uncovering magic items to be added to the Syndicate's inventory.
After adventures, you may receive 1 or more Syndicate Tokens instead of a permanent magic item. Syndicate Tokens are automatically tracked on westmarches.games.
You can turn in Syndicate tokens in exchange for magic items that have been uncovered in our adventures.
The pinned message in Syndicate's Inventory has the commands for viewing and removing items from the Sydicate's Inventory!
To see what items are available, check out the Syndicate's Inventory in the pinned thread in #inventory-logs. All items should have their rarity listed with them.
If you see something you like, head over to the "Syndicate Inventory" marketplace on westmarches.games, and purchase the rarity that matches the item you are taking from the Syndicate Inventory.
Then, head back over to the Syndicate's Inventory and use the command as outlined in the pinned message. Then you can log the item in your own inventory!
Renown is an individual's standing with any given Lore Aspect. The more renown points you have, the friendlier your relationship will be.
Your Renown Score is for OoC knowledge only, your PC is not aware of their score in-character, rather they have a general idea of their standing with a Lore Aspect.
{{note
A Lore Aspect refers to any piece of the world that can gain renown. This can be factions, locations, deities, significant NPCs, etc. See the "Lore Aspects" folder in the wiki on westmarches.games for more information on specific Lore Aspects!
For the sake of our soft opening, the only Lore Aspects will be a small number of canon factions, and The Syndicate itself.
Renown is granted by, or delegated by the Lorekeeper(s) for that specific Lore Aspect. Generally this is done by going on adventures that involve that Lore Aspect, or DM Events.
When you gain renown, the DM will ping you and let you know how much renown to log.
You character has a thread in #renown-logs for you to track all the renown you've earned. Renown for each Lore Aspect is tracked individually. Be sure to link the post where you were pinged when logging renown.
In testing: Renown is currently automatically tracked on westmarches.games
Renown is separated into 6 tiers of standing. The Lorekeeper(s) of that Lore Aspect ultimately decide what is unlocked at each tier for their Aspect, though the table below can act as a guide line.
If you've earned enough renown to increase your tier, post in #discord-requests to gain the role. Once you have that role, special marketplaces, discord channels, or other perks will be visible.
| Tier | Renown Earned | Standing | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 0 - 1 | Stranger | Unknown, no rights or perks |
| 1 | 2 - 6 | Recognized | Acknowledgement, gain basic good will |
| 2 | 7 - 18 | Pledge Ranked | Officially belong, gain minor perks |
| 3 | 19 - 38 | Trusted Member | Access to secure locations, special tasks |
| 4 | 39 - 58 | Officer | Leadership in missions, command small groups |
| 5 | 59 - 98 | High Rank | Significant influence, faction influence, favors |
| 6 | 99+ | Legendary Figure | Shape faction policy, world known hero or villain (requires PC lvl 17+) |
PCs can also earn (or lose) renown for The Syndicate as a whole! This is done by acting as a representative of The Syndicate while working with any Lore Aspects, and affects how these Lore Aspects see The Syndicate as an organization.
Additionally, The Syndicate is also its own Lore Aspect, meaning PCs can earn or lose renown with it. Your PC gains/loses renown whenever they are involved in any activity that results in the Syndicate gaining or losing renown with other Lore Aspects.
If The Syndicate as whole gains enough renown with a Lore Aspect, the tier rewards for that Aspect become available to ALL members that have renown with The Syndicate!
For example, say your PC has done a lot of work on behalf of The Syndicate for the Zhentarim. As a result, you have T2 Renown with The Syndicate (in addition to whatever Tier you personally have with the Zhentarim). Meanwhile, other members have been doing a TON of work for the The Harpers on behalf of the Syndicate. As a result, the ENTIRE Syndicate has T3 Renown with the Harpers, and opens up those benefits. You would be able to utilize the T2 or lower Harper benefits, as you have a T2 standing with The Sydnicate personally.
The following are automatically tracked via westmarches.games:
PCs can transfer gold between each other for selling, buying, favors, etc. To do this, go to your character's page on westmarches.games and click "transfer currency". Make sure to include the reason for the transfer, and any items being transferred in the "note" section!
To transfer items to another character, go to your character's page on westmarches.games, click the item in your intventory, and select "transfer to character".
Downtime points can also be transferred for enchanting/crafting, but that is only if your PC is helping another PC with the project. See the "DTP Activity Guide" in #server-info for more information.
Treasure Points, Syndicate Tokens, Renown, and Bastion Orders cannot be transferred between PCs at this time.
While most standard systems for spending gold or other currency is found in the marketplace, there may be situations where you're required to pay or gain something outside of those situations.
You can manually adjust your currencies in one of two ways:
Go to your character's page on westmarches.games and click "give rewards." Be sure to put "-" in front of any currency you are losing, and be sure to add the reason for the change to the "notes" section!
Go to the marketplace on westmarches.games and scroll down to "Miscellanous". From here you can click to add or subtract currencies.
