Lady Yalah Gralhund of Waterdeep invited members of the Glassfang Syndicate to the wedding of her son, Zartan, with Charrin Tesper, soul heir of Lord Armult Tesper. In our last adventures, we assisted the union of the two. It seems Zartan was eager to see us again and invited our entourage out to enjoy the festivities. However, Yalah's guards seemed on alert despite the happy day, and the lady of the house requested our services. Urstul Floxin, previously an ally of the house, had acquired a special crystal. Yalah wanted it. Knowing Floxin had allies within the Zhentarim, our party of Alvis, Dahlia, Jax, Tealight, and myself (Sylk) set out with arcanist Brigsly Gibbons to track Floxin.
Upon meeting the Zhent, hells broke loose. Brigsly threw a Fireball. Assassins in the rooftops tried to claim this crystal for their own, ducking out of sight to cause more mayhem. Though I rushed Floxin, he was able to evade my grasp and flee. We finished the fight against the Zhentarim, unsuccessful, and found an alley to duck into for hiding until the worst blew over. Brigsly revealed that, while Floxin had fumbled through his pockets to toss a grenade, he had tossed the crystal out with it, which the ally of ours swiped up. The halfling wanted nothing to do with the crystal, eagerly allowing us to give the Syndicate credit while he claimed plausible deniability.
I wish I could say we were successful in having a peaceful wedding. Mid-service, Jax overheard and Alvis announced the noises brewing downstairs. While the nobles ducked for cover, Floxin burst through the doors again, demanding we surrender. We did not. His strategy was sound this time, targeting our cleric first before our sorcerer. When Floxin suffered enough, he fled, and I gave chase. It nearly cost my life. Dahlia kept the pressure against the foes Alvis sent in a stupor. The others recounted that Jax enraptured several Zhents with a pretty rock, I'm not exactly sure. And Tealight flew in to save me, giving me enough clearance to blast the smug grin off Floxin's face.
The snacks at the rest of the wedding were quite delicious. Despite the obvious, the ceremony was concluded in success. I do wish Zartan and Charrin all the best in luck and life. They're wonderful people. Though political in nature, the union of the two seems also beneficial for the sake of their love.
Meanwhile, I plan to sleep for the next tenday. Too many hors d'oeuvres. Too many poisons coursing through my body. At least the Gralhunds paid well for this strange crystal... -Sylkran "Sylk" Teke'zynge
