Much like domains factions work much the same. You can only select 1 faction benefit per character. It represents your allegiance within the material world. Factions can be changed by performing a quest or through Role-play. Allying yourself to a faction does not stop you from being apart of other factions or joining as an infiltrator but it does stop you from gaining the primary benefits of the other factions.
Factions are the structural pillars of society, shaping the politics, daily life, and conflicts of the world. They are voluntary associations led by powerful figureheads, but they extend far beyond mere trade associations or merchant clubs. Factions can take many forms depending on their purpose:
Citizens are rarely born into factions. An individual can choose to pledge themselves to a faction—or walk their own path alone. Some organizations actively recruit new members based on talent or ideology, while others simply accept those who seek them out. People within the same family or community might join entirely different factions, which can lead to powerful alliances or bitter animosities when loyalties clash.
Even though membership is a choice, certain traditions, cultures, or bloodlines often steer individuals toward specific groups. Members of certain backgrounds or professions are naturally drawn to specific factions that value their particular skill set.
