With all of the many horrors threatening Ichoros, the great beacon of light that is Illus the Latern sometimes cannot illuminate every crack, every flaw, and every long-infected site in the barrier around the material plane, and so they must be investigated. For this reason, small patrols of Yadira are sent to fly across long-forgotten streteches of the seas of the world before returning to the heavens, using special compasses that detect breaches between the worlds, to help extinguish threats before the mortals have to deal with them.
One day, a routinue patrol encountered what they thought was a small disturbance, only for a portal to open up and unleash a great evil that they couldn't handle on their own. All but a young air-lancer, Atron-Zod Metmasil were slain. Vowing to avenge his comrades, and calling up Illus for strength, Atron resolves to finish what they started. He will warn the mortals, he will find new allies, and together they will destroy this abomination!
....And yet, even Atron isn't completely sure of his enemy's true nature. He was knocked unconscious and into the ocean early in the battle. He will never forget the stentch of its unique evil energy, and will hunt it down to the ends of Ichoros, but the hound that is Atron isn't certain exactly what manner of beast he is chasing....
