Backstory: Siminix's silver dragon clan has lived far seperated from civilization for as long as she has remembered. While most silvers are among the dragons with the closest relationship to humanoid-kind, this extended family has turned their back on them, with her own mother, the great dragon Vortiga, holding a particularly bitter grudge against humanity. So, they live far on the frontier, and warn Siminix not to daydream about the outside world, especially not humanoids and definitely not adventurers!
But she cannot! They have her horns-over-tail! She has read all of the literature in multiple languages in her mother's impressive library, and in almost every history, in every story by any race, the two-leggers keep showing up, becoming unlikely heroes, powerful villains, the greatest wizards and the resurrectors of dead gods! Its like they are the main characters of history-everyone's history, not just theirs! There is no literary escape from them! But she's happy to run into them in her stories because ISN'T trying to escape from them! Only her cruel, wicked, domineering witch of a MOTHER(!) is!
Her mother will not relent, and she also tells Siminix not to use that tone with her. Siminix won't be allowed to fly out of sight of their home mountain or even speak to a humanoid until she grows into a big dragon and can defend herself (or transform), and she needs to find herself a different hobby in the meantime!
And yet...Siminix seems to be something of a late bloomer. While her siblings grew to their next developmental stages without incident, her growth has been mysteriously stunted. Now that her siblings are either gone to form their own lairs or occassionally helping mother police Siminix, its torture. At this rate, she'll LOSE HER MIND long before she grows up!
Or she would, except one day, the humanoids came to her. Its the first time she's ever heard machetes cutting brush or the brays of pack animals, but she already knows what they are. It seems the mortals are exploring the frontier....and they've just wondered right into her territory. Her mother's attempt to escape them had failed.
...Why do mother and the other adults hate them so much? Why does she not give Siminix a clear answer?
NO TIME FOR THOUGHTS LIKE THAT!
"Hold on, humans, here I come!"
