Susi and Oliver Jarvi were brothers, Susi the older by 5 years. Oliver was always gifted in magic, and Susi had determined to protect his frail little brother so he could grow to be a fine magician. And so it was after twenty years, Oliver departed to be a wizard's apprentice. Less than two years later, Susi met him when he took a job to act as an escort to a small village called Diamond Lake. Elated to be together again, the brothers journeyed there and into an abandoned mine shaft Oliver said contained some interesting magic materials. Down there, he began a strange ritual. Susi, while not schooled in magic, felt something was off. Before he could stop his brother, he heard whispering behind him. Turning, he saw no one. Then he felt cold steel slicing through his neck. Collapsing and beginning to bleed out, Susi looked to the empty-eyed stare of his brother gripping a knife, strange figures emerging from darkness whispering to him. Some time later, Susi found himself aware of rain. He stumbled about, only fragments of who he was and what had happened in his head. By the time he was found by a guard and taken for holding, he could only recall his name, his brothers name and face, and the pain in his neck.
