The upcoming harvest in Unomura is meager, but it is all the villagers have to survive the winter. Soon, however, a group of mountain bandits will descend upon them to take everything.
A desperate Heimin elder stumbles into the city streets, far from his home. His clothes are worn and muddy, his hands calloused from the earth. He collapses to his knees, desperately reaching out to any passing Ronin or Samurai, begging for salvation.
"Please, most honorable Samurai! Our village, Unomura... the bandits are coming! They have threatened to take our entire harvest. We have nothing to offer but three meals of rice a day and our eternal gratitude, but we need protection! Please, Samurai-sama, you must help us defend our homes! I beg of you!"
The Code of Conduct
A Samurai is always prepared. To ensure this voice session runs smoothly for everyone, please observe the following:
- Call to Arms (Bushi Priority): Due to the urgent, martial nature of defending a village against overwhelming odds, players bringing Bushi characters will be given higher priority for seating in this event.
- Punctuality: This is a live voice event. Players will be confirmed 24 hours in advance. Please ensure your microphone is working properly and minimize background noise.
- The Grace Period: We value your time. If you give us advance warning that you'll be late, we offer a 30-minute grace period, though you will then be placed at the bottom of the initiative tracker instead of rolling.
- No-Shows: Failing to show up within the grace period (or failing to notify the GM) will result in a forfeited spot and a standard no-show penalty.
- Voice & Text Etiquette: Keep voice comms clear for roleplay and action declarations. All rules questions should be written in the text chat attached to the voice call so the GM can address them without interrupting the narrative flow.
- Foundry VTT: We will be using Foundry for all dice rolls, initiative tracking, and battle maps. Please ensure you are logged in and your character sheet is prepared before we begin.
Four Hours of Steel: The Schedule
This is a fast-paced event where the sun waits for no one. We have a strict four-hour window to organize the defense and break the bandit siege.
- 0:00 – 0:15 | The Briefing: We start in medias res. Arrive focused, settle into the voice channel, and hear the desperate plea.
- 0:15 – 1:00 | The Fortification: Your characters arrive at Unomura. Use this time to roleplay with the villagers, survey the Foundry map, and set up your defenses before the raid begins.
- 1:00 – 3:30 | The Siege: High-intensity combat against the bandit forces.
- 3:30 – 4:00 | The Aftermath: Whether you stand victorious in the mud or fall defending the helpless, we spend the final 30 minutes weaving the narrative threads together and mourning the fallen.
The Combat
Initiative will be rolled and tracked on Foundry. Stay focused, so you do not miss your cue!
Ensure you understand how your techniques work. Read through your Kata, Kiho, Invocations, Skills, Stances and elemental Approaches before we start. Feel free to ask questions on Discord before the session, as well as discussing plans.
The Spoils of War: Rewards
- 1 XP for showing up
- 1 XP for being part of the story and interacting with the plot
- 1 XP for making sure the bandits do not return
