A new shadow falls over the grand stage, and a tangled web of whispers has begun to spin through the city.

The elegant Doji Hinadori has caught wind of a rumor—one she is determined to unravel. Courtiers are whispering behind painted fans that the flirtatious Ikoma Yoshinaga is secretly a married father. Yet, he has never spoken a single word of a family outside of is brother, Akinosuke, and uncle, Matsuki. Is it a masterfully kept secret, or a malicious lie meant to stir trouble?

Hinadori wishes to know the truth. Will you help and trace the rumor to its source, or will the secrets of the Ikoma remain buried?

The court is listening, and the race to uncover the truth has begun.

The Five Pillars of Intrigue

In each round, you can choose how you want to dig for the truth. Your approach depends on the skills you employ to navigate the court:

• Sentiment (The Clear Mirror): Peer into the hearts of others to see through lies and discern hidden motives.
• Courtesy (The Elegant Trail): Flawlessly follow the subtle trail of rumors left behind by the court's gossips.
• Skulduggery (The Shadowed Palm): Bribe key individuals into sharing closely guarded information. *
• Culture (The Social Compass): Utilize your knowledge of high society to know exactly where such scandalous rumors are being discussed.
• Courtesy (The Master's Trade): Strategically spread new rumors of your own, or trade valuable gossip for critical intel.

*Note: Resorting to underhanded tactics like bribery will result in a loss of Honor for your character.

Schedule & Structure

The social mystery will unfold over a period of three days.

Each day will represent two rounds of intense intrigue. We shall take our time to savor the drama and calculation of every move. To keep the pace of courtly life,

12 hours Out-of-Character (OOC) will equate to 1 hour In-Character (IC).

Ensure you make your moves within each window, lest your character be left behind in the shifting tides of the court!

Note on Missed Rounds
If you fail to make your dice roll before the start of the next round or the end of the final round, it will be assumed that your character was
lost in thought
amidst the courtly chaos. Consequently, your character will receive
0 Momentum
for that missed round. Do not let the distractions of the court break your focus!

How We Play

To keep the pace electric, we’ll be using Intrigue Initiative!

Initiative: Roll Sentiment + Focus at the start to determine the turn order.

You will be pinged with the start of each round.

The Grand Objectives & Momentum

To solve this mystery, you must build Momentum through your investigations. There are two distinct goals to reach, each requiring a specific threshold of success:

1. Find the Source of the Rumor: Requires 10 Momentum.
2. Uncover the Truth About the Rumor: Requires 15 Momentum.

Alliances & Victory

The court is a treacherous place, and you must decide how you wish to navigate it:

• The Lone Wolf: Work alone to claim all the glory and the prize for yourself.
• The Grand Alliance: Team up with fellow samurai to pool your efforts and split the rewards.

The Crown of Victory: The team or individual who successfully uncovers the truth first shall "win" the competition and take home the grand prize. Choose your allies wisely, or rely solely on your own sharp wits—the race against time is on!

Note that if you wish to pursue your own goals outside of the investigation, this will lead to your PC only receiving XP, loss of Honor & Glory and no monetary reward.
