Hosted by Doji Natsue
As spring settles more firmly over the City of the Rich Frog, invitations begin to circulate for an evening of poetry, calligraphy, and cultivated exchange: The Salon of Silk and Verse, to be hosted by Doji Natsue.
Presented as a gathering in honor of the written word and the quieter graces of refined company, the salon invites guests to share poetry, favored passages, calligraphy, and thoughtful conversation beneath lanternlight and prestine courtesy. It is, officially, an evening dedicated to elegance, taste, and the many forms beauty may take when given shape through ink and voice.
And in the hands of Doji Natsue, it is all of those things.
Natsue is not known for warmth in the broad, easy sense. Rather, she is exacting, poised, and possessed of the kind of refinement that makes others sit a little straighter in their cushions. Her standards are high, her taste impeccable, and her presence alone is enough to make even a simple reading feel as though it is being quietly judged against the finest traditions of the Crane. For some, that will be intimidating. For others, irresistible.
But of course, this is not merely an evening of art.
When a Doji gathers guests from across the city to read verse and admire brushwork, no one mistakes it for a simple cultural courtesy. Beneath the poems and polished compliments, the real work of the evening will continue as it always does: impressions formed, judgments sharpened, alliances tested, rivalries dressed in silk, and private interests revealed a line at a time. Here, the choice of poem may matter as much as a declaration. A well-placed compliment may carry more weight than a formal petition. Even silence may be taken as a statement.
Guests are encouraged to bring a poem, a passage, a piece of calligraphy, or simply the wit and discernment to appreciate what others lay bare before the room.
Under Doji Natsue’s careful eye, The Salon of Silk and Verse promises to be an evening of beauty, precision, and the sort of company that leaves no word entirely unmeasured.
(This will be a more fast paced play by posts. It should last about 6 hours, with one round taking an hour of time. I will expect more exacting attention from my players in this. Obviously breaks are ok. But if you cant be there participating in an active quick moving play by posts, please don't sign up! This event will have options to begin affecting wider changes into the social/political landscape! The PVP tag is also being turned on, as courtiers sometimes your objectives will conflict with one another. We will handle that situation with grace and understanding of one another!)
