## Creating your Character. You can access the [Mothership character sheet here](https://www.tuesdayknightgames.com/pages/mothership-resources-downloads "Mothership Character Sheet"). The sheet is fairly intuitive so you should be able to fill it out yourself. However, be free to contact a GM if you'd like assistance. When creating a character on this site, you can either upload your completed character sheet, or list the details manually. You will need to add your class as a Character Attribute. You may also, if you wish, choose to add one or more factions your character is part of as an attribute as well. You do not need to be part of a faction, but you can find out more about them in the World section of the site. ## Players Survival Guide. ***It is not essential to have read through the Players Survival Guide if you do not wish.*** Mothership is a fairly intuitive game and can be taught at the beginning of and throughout your session. Part of your character sheet will require selecting equipment. You have two options for this: Choosing a starting loadout, or choosing credits. It is recommended that new players choose the loadout option to give you a better introduction. ### Loadouts. > Loadouts contain the weapons, armor, and other gear characters start with. Roll 1d10 on the appropriate table to determine Starting Loadout, and then record that on your character sheet. Some are better than others, but all of them are useful in the hands of a desperate person. Underlined items are not described in the Equipment section—use common sense to determine their use. - **Players Survival Guide (p.7)** You can either choose a loadout relevant to your class, or you may roll a d10 and let chance decide for you. Alongside your loadout, you also begin with some credits. Instead of a loadout, you have the option to begin with a greater amount of credits. You can instead calculate as follows: *2d10x100cr* ### Trinkets & Patches. You can find information on these on pages 8 & 9 in the Players Survival Book. However, these are not necessary and can be skipped. ## Getting Started In-Universe. It is encouraged that you create characters with other players you would like to frequently play with as your Crew. It is helpful to begin as a member of the Icarue Imperium. In universe, this provides you with a way to acquire operations (aka quests) and a reason to travel the Sector with your crew. Don't worry, even if your character does not agree with the Icarue Imperium, they could still have been recruited under Conscription. This can also benefit you as an easy motivation: To fulfill your Lapse Clause and be free. ## Final Note: Lethality. It is important to remember that Mothership is a game where your character has a fairly high chance to die at any given time. There is no harm in preparing additional characters if wanted.
