Roll20/Tech rules
- I require a working microphone through Discord
- Please update your name to Discord Name | Character Name | AC | PP | DC (if relevant); or a similar format
- I have 5e specific conditional token markers, please use them LIBERALLY
- I may make changes to your default tokens (IE: visual health bar or name plates for me; or size changes.) It is probably best you dont directly transfer your token from my game to another DMs.
- I often ask people to ping their abilities and spells. This isn't because I don't trust y'all. I tend to have a lot of moving parts in the background and don't want to miss anything.
- After pinging an ability, please give me a moment to read it before you start reading out loud.
- Whisper death saving throws, all other rolls should be public
Conduct Rules
- Don't be a dick.
- RUNNING IS (almost) ALWAYS AN OPTION
- Rule of cool applies, and I reward creativity. If you want to try something awesome, please ask; it just might work
- Please try to keep cross talk/side rp in the roll20 text chat
- Please be ready for your turn in combat. I will skip people if they are not prepared in order to keep combat moving
Mechanical rules
- I typically use the 5-10 rule for diagonal movement (1st diagonal square is 5 ft, 2nd is 10 ft, 3rd is 5ft, etc) this should be automatically measured in roll20.
- Nat 20s autopass saves; nat 1s autofail
- Falling deals 1d10 dmg, instead of the standard 1d6
- Only 2 people may attempt the same skill check outside of combat
- Outside of combat, you can only use the help action for skills with which you are proficient
- Unless the total dmg is reduced by >25%, you do not innately know if a creature has resistance or immunity to a certain dmg type. (For example, if your attack deals 20 piercing dmg and 8 poison dmg to a creature, you could not tell if the creature was resistant to poison, BUT you could tell if the creature was resistant to piercing
- Creatures can still use legendary and lair actions if incapacitated or lose their action economy
- I often use a system called 'soft initiative.' For this, you dont actually roll initiative, rather just decide what order you all will be acting in. This is to make sure everyone has a chance to do what they want to do. Action economy and movement is much more loose during this.
Spellcasting rules
- If a spell is being concentrated on, it is a noticeable ongoing effect, as you are actively keeping up magical gobily gook
- If you see a spell being cast, you can use your reaction to make an arcana check (DC = 10 + spell lvl x 2 [minimum of 12]) to know what the spell is
- Casting with somatic or verbal is a clear visual or auditory effect.
Other notes
- I try to schedule in a ~15 min intermission every 1.5 - 2 hours
- I kill pets. Bring them at their own risk
- No, I don't hate you, I'm just chronically fatigued and have a very dry tone.
