Szlei’s actual origin is something of a mystery, but somewhere along the lines, her egg—probably courtesy of a mistaken poacher—made its way into the possession of an exotic animal dealer. A noble living in Baldur’s Gate with a particular interest in unusual pets purchased the misidentified egg, and his life was made hell from that point onwards.
At first, Szlei seemed to be a normal lizard. She was pampered with all the attention a prized pet deserved. As time wore on it eventually became apparent she wasn’t what he bargained for, and he tried to correct course for raising a lizardfolk, but at that point, she was already half feral. It wasn’t uncommon for Szlei to bite servants, claw up the walls from trying to climb them, escape in the night, embarrass her ‘father’ in front of those who visited the manor, and generally was an overall pain in the ass to control.
After managing Szlei for over a decade, the man was at his wit’s end, which was when his savior arrived: a triton named Skiver. He realized he had use for Szlei in the organization he was set to create.
At the order of the non-leader subordinate of the Leadership of Suboordinates, Szlei has accepted the mission to scout out the Glassfang Syndicate and see if a merging of partnerships is in the cards.
