Theodore is an awkward young man. He's not experienced in the world, often going off the referential knowledge he's acquired second hand through books or filing away reports from other adventurers. He can be heard mispronouncing words, due in large part to learning them by reading.
He is thorough, methodical, and has a baseline knowledge on a lot of topics that provides him a certain quiet confidence. He's also very practical, able to apply the rules, regulations, and knowledge to a lot of situations. However, his brain will short circuit if he manages to get something wrong.
He prefers to be behind a desk instead of being in the field and he has a mild panic each time he's out adventuring.
A slim, lithe man in his early twenties, Theodore is constantly seen with neatly combed auburn hair without a single whisker of facial hair. It's unclear if he can grow it or he's just that meticulous about shaving.
His practical travelling clothes matches his very practical personality. He is always dressed for the office and ended up outdoors. He is seen with his well-worn leather satchel overflowing with documents, maps, and notebooks. The small round glasses are perched on his nose are a necessary accessory to both allow him to see and complete the administrative look
Theodore Crane had a truly mundane life.
Born and raised in Waterdeep to the middle class family of Edmund and Margaret Crane. Theodore is the youngest of three, behind his brother Aldric and sister Nora.
Theodore is a bit of the black sheep of the family. Instead of wanting to be an adventurer like the rest of the family, he finds himself drawn to reading about adventures instead of being on one, much to the bewilderment of his family. Perhaps equally bewildering to the family is when he joined The Waterdeep Expeditionary Office, a local adventurer's guild, as an administrative assistant, joining the family business in his own way.
Through his meticulous notetaking and various refinements to the guild's filing systems, Theodore found ways to prove himself useful. However, his supervisor Therindel thought that Theodore was stifling his own potential. When Theodore found the paperwork for the Glassfang Syndicate on his desk signed by Therindel, he thought it was a transfer and traveled out to his new office. It was only on his first day that he found out that it was not a transfer. He would be working in the field, much to his shock and dismay.
