Oan, a dragonborn monk in the order of the two mounds, an order dedicated to poor children.  Any donation would be appreciated.  Although living a simple lifestyle, Oan seems hypocritical;  he does not shy away from the accumulation of wealth, allegedly to raise funds for his order, he partakes in finery when he offered the opportunity, in recompense for his life of service, he does not drink alcohol socially but will partake to enhance his combat skills, he denies himself the pleasures of the flesh, but would not deny others.  Although his motivations seem questionable, he is truly passionate about protecting innocent children.  Further backstory would reveal the source of this passion.  He is definitely an ends justify the means personality, and joining a group would help him further his personal goals.
