Backstory: Reimu Hakurei lived a relatively simple life-maintaining balance, resolving incidents, and keeping order where chaos liked to creep in. As the shrine maiden of the Hakurei Shrine, she stood as a quiet but absolute force, someone who never sought power, yet wielded it effortlessly.

Unfortunately for her, she also happened to be very easy to annoy.

And that made her the perfect target for Yukari, after all Reimu was her favorite target for pranks and mischief.

One quiet day, without warning or reason beyond her own amusement, Yukari opened a gap behind Reimu and shoved her straight through it. Reimu barely had time to react before the world folded in on itself, reality stretching and tearing as she was cast into somewhere… else.

But Yukari didn’t stop there.

With a lazy flick of her hand, she sealed away most of Reimu’s power mid-transit-binding her overwhelming spiritual abilities behind layers of restriction.

“Let’s see how you do like this, it would be too easy otherwise” Yukari had said, smiling.

Reimu awoke far from home, on the unfamiliar lands of Verdalis, near the outskirts of Everholt.

The difference was immediate.

Her connection to her usual power felt distant-muted, like trying to hear through water. Her barriers were weaker. Her intuition dulled. Her ability to fly gone. Even her natural-born ability to simply float came with effort.

For the first time in a long while…

Reimu wasn’t the strongest presence in the room.

Despite that, she adapted quickly.

Reimu would begin traveling across Altharion, taking on smaller incidents, solving local disturbances, and slowly relearning how to fight with what remained of her abilities. Each battle, each challenge, chipped away at the seal Yukari had placed on her.

Not completely-but enough to remind her of what she used to be.

And what she would be again.

Reimu doesn’t know exactly why Yukari did this.
