A starving boy made pirate when met with the disastrous crew known as the Depth Walkers. After years of getting to know various crew members like the loyal but violent first mate, the cheerful and fashionable Navigator, the Cook who believed meal preparations is a ritual to the gods, the Doctor who told more often than not true prophecies and talked to spirits, and the silent Look-out who had the best aim and drew pictures of world around her. Including the confident yet otherworldly Captain, the boy has found family with them. They hunted various sea monsters with various degrees of peril but also survived by the skin of their teeth.

One day Reed wakes up near a sunken ship and an unidentifiable dead sea monster. He soon learns that the deceased crew became his literal shadow, after some tension everyone learns that the Captain isn’t there. Now they will work together to find the Captains for answers, no matter the cost.

A boy no more, he’s now a revenant.

Reed doesn’t speak unnecessary words often and is usually to himself (well himself and occasionally words from his shadow). He’s his own person but duty and love for his family often makes him more of a vessel to them at times rather than his own person.

Before getting back to the surface Reed took some items with him from the remains of the sunken shop. He took the coat and scarf from the navigator, the scimtar from the first mate, a necklace from the Cook, an eye patch from the doctor, and a monocular telescope from the Look-out. He decided to wear a hood to not look at his new form, not that he necessarily hates but it irks him somehow.

He’s blunt and stays true to his word. Yet the boy buried deep within may perk his curiosity on any subject.
