Casey grew up in Seattle's foster system until she had the opportunity to join a professional roller derby team, the Halcyon Raging Urchins. Because of her new career, she was able to get emancipated and leave her foster days behind her. She quickly gained popularity, securing her a niche but loyal fanbase that were obsessed with her snark and lust for violence. However, her career came to an end after a fight gone wrong. In a fit of rage, Casey started a brawl and broke her opponent's jaw and gave them permanent brain damage. Unbeknownst to her, she had had a black market steroid reaction from her coach secretly drugging her. It caused her to spontaneously develop super strength during a bout. Casey was lucky enough to get off on probation but was immediately booted from the league and was forced to start over.

Casey found her second chance when her probation officer (and lowkey her best/only friend), Lisa, found a Fresh Start Scholarship at Eclipse Academy. With a record, a bad attitude, and a new set of powers, being Star Jam was likely her only chance to get her footing again. She's definitely still bitter about the unwelcomed career switch but at least she's allowed to punch people in this one.
