Akimoto is taller and broader than most who walk the quiet paths of the Scorpion, carrying himself with relaxed confidence rather than stealth, presenting as a capable court attendant.
His clothing is practical but refined, suitable for city life. A set of prayer beads, given to him by a Togashi monk after a chance encounter, wrapped around his right forearm, worn and frequently adjusted by restless fingers. The lower half of his face is concealed by a red cloth.
He serves the Soshi daimyo and the Scorpion Clan as an embedded observer in the City of the Rich Frog, ordered to listen, cultivate relationships, and be ready to act when the balance of the city can be shifted in the Scorpion’s favor. He prefers to be known by a few and overlooked by the rest. He is cordial, attentive, and often more honest with strangers than with allies.
Akimoto is loyal to his clan, but critical of it. He believes the Scorpion lean too eagerly into deception as identity rather than necessity, isolating themselves and limiting what they might truly achieve. He finds Bushidō rigid and situationally harmful. These views trouble him. He fears that his discomfort with manipulation and falsehood marks him as a potential failure—a junshin unfit for the clan’s work. He sleeps poorly. Silence unsettles him. Rain calms him. When stressed, his hands twitch, tightening and loosening his beads or working intricate knots to steady his thoughts.
He longs, quietly, for a life where trust is possible and duty does not demand betrayal. Until then, he observes, adapts, and waits.
