⚔️ What happened:

The party investigated two missing-person notices that appeared connected: Miriam Woods’s husband, Thomas, and Jane Doe’s boyfriend were both described as hunters with similar features. The group traveled into the forest and found Thomas trapped in a tree while wolves surrounded him. We defeated the wolves and safely escorted him back to Dawnport.

In town, Miriam initially celebrated Thomas’s return but became angry after hearing Jane Doe’s claim. Thomas explained that he only knew Jane Doe because she bought animal skins from his hunts, and he denied being her boyfriend.

Y used Command on Jane Doe during the confrontation, causing her to halt temporarily. Drav warned Y that casting spells in Dawnport might violate local rules, but chose not to report him because he had assisted with Thomas’s rescue; when the spell ended, Jane Doe fled feeling horified.

What happened:

Two separate requests regarding missing persons were posted by two women: Miriam Woods, who claimed the missing man was her husband, and Jane Doe, who claimed he was her boyfriend. Curiously, both descriptions referred to the same man, Thomas Woods. I suspected from the beginning that this would turn into a rather scandalous situation.

The party consisted of Ronia Vina, Y, Seelia, Taldrin, Joanna, Drav, and myself. Drav led the expedition, while I joined simply to observe how the matter would unfold.

We travelled to the East Forest, where Thomas was last seen. We eventually found him stranded in a tree, surrounded by wolves. We rescued him, though Seelia, Y, and Joanna were knocked unconscious during the fight, leaving me as the only one capable of healing them.

Afterward, we questioned Thomas about Jane Doe. His response was nothing more than genuine confusion.

We escorted Thomas back to Dawnport, where his wife arrived in a mixture of worry and anger. I must admit, her reaction was rather amusing. Jane Doe later arrived as well, revealing that she had merely proclaimed Thomas to be her boyfriend despite having met him only once.

In the end, the case was "resolved", and the matter was settled without further incident. Thomas and his wife were allowed to leave in "peace".

Conclusion: Missing person recovered. Wolves dealt with. Scandal clarified. Perhaps some mysteries are better left as gossip.

Note #1 - The Missing Hunter
We picked up two missing-person requests in Dawnport—Miriam Woods searching for her husband, Thomas, and Jane Doe searching for her “boyfriend.” Both descriptions turned out to be for the same man, which already made the situation suspicious. We travelled to the East Forest and eventually found Thomas stuck in a tree with wolves surrounding him. The fight was rough; Y, Joanna, and I were knocked unconscious, leaving Theresa to heal us while the others dealt with the wolves. Once the wolves were defeated, we rescued Thomas and escorted him back to Dawnport.

Things became much more complicated once we returned. Miriam was relieved to see her husband, until Jane arrived and insisted that Thomas was her boyfriend. Thomas seemed genuinely confused and explained that he only knew Jane because she bought animal skins from him. During the confrontation, Y used Command on Jane, causing Drav to warn him that casting spells in Dawnport might violate the local rules. Drav chose not to report him because he had helped rescue Thomas, and once the spell ended, Jane fled in horror.

The case was technically resolved: Thomas was reunited with his wife, the wolves were dealt with, and Jane left with her very one-sided relationship behind.

Conclusion:

Not sure what was more dangerous—the wolves or the people in Dawnport. At least the wolves were honest about wanting to eat us. Thomas really needs to learn how to avoid getting stuck in trees, though I suppose I can't complain too much after getting knocked unconscious myself. As for Jane... I still don't understand how buying animal skins becomes a boyfriend-girlfriend arrangement.

Dawnport is strange. I think I will like it here.
