Last time the party discovered that Cranburg was at the mercy of some strange creature that had founded a base of operations to carry out its vile experiments on the townsfolk. It was messing with their minds. Removing brains and keeping them in jars. Torturing and twisting them into confused psionic creatures who would lash out at anything around them. Fortunately, the party managed to find the lost husband, but by then they had taken many serious wounds and were low on resources. They were forced to flee with their prize in hand.
Now the guild was sending us back to finish the job. On the train to Hfar I did some spell scroll crafting. It was fun.
The issues arrived when we got to town which was empty. Silent. It was like no one was ever there at all. At the Inn we found signs of a massive brawl that had taken place. In our digging we found a note:
"To whoever may find this, we had to leave. The town went crazy. Neighbor against neighbor, I sent Wick and Dot to Hfar to be with their uncle.
I'm going to defend my bar with my last breath.
If anyone reads this, know that something possessed the town....and I don't think we are going to survive."
Our escapades led us to a mine that was located deep in the woods. It took us a couple of hours to hit the abandoned tin mines. I had never been here before, but the party assured me this was a place that had been explored already. Then we were attacked by rats. It was awful half of our party was knokced unconscious. I was able to help kill them with my radiant damage as normal attacks did little to the swarms.
I was able to carve a path into something deeper. An illusion hid a secret path that led to a myconid den. We slew the mushrooms with some trouble and Knick almost died.
Next we fought another set of rats and some gross worms that popped out of the water and tried to eat your thoughts.
