The mountains directly north of the Last Lantern remain entirely unexplored. If a pass or series of navigable valleys exists, it could provide a direct route to the northern bay. A route to the sea would vastly improve travel to the far north, provide us resources and direct trade routes that would be more efficient than overland supply routes.

The terrain is expected to be difficult. Little knowledge of what plant, wildlife, or hazards inhabit the area. Even if no route to the coast exists, charting the mountains would fill a blank spot on our maps and reveal valuable information about the geography and natural resources very close to us.

Adventurers should come prepared with climbing equipment, weather resistant gear, and extra rations. Special resources such as warm clothing, pickaxes, boot tips, gloves, pitons, harnesses, grappling hooks, and strong rope might need to be commissioned before the journey.
