Location: Last Lantern Job Board
Travel: Two days east of Last Lantern
Recommended Party: Capable adventurers, scouts, sellswords, ruin-delvers, and anyone with sense enough to bring rope.
Departure Date: 03-01-01ar
A Lantern Company scout patrol recently returned from the eastern trails with reports of old stonework hidden beneath a tangle of roots, moss, and black-barked trees. The site appears to be some kind of buried hall or ruin, partially collapsed and long forgotten within the Ashen Marches.
The scouts did not enter far. They reported strange lights moving through the trees after dusk, fresh claw marks across ancient stone, and a low sound beneath the earth that one scout described as “roots dragging across a coffin lid.”
The Lantern Company is seeking a small party to investigate the Root-Hall Ruins, confirm whether the site is dangerous, and recover any useful records, relics, maps, or salvage that may help future expeditions into the Marches.
The eastern trails remain poorly charted. Expect rough terrain, heavy undergrowth, unstable stonework, and possible hostile wildlife. Do not enter sealed chambers alone. Do not touch glowing roots, whispering stones, or anything that appears to breathe without lungs.
Standard Lantern Company expedition pay (50 gold per player), with bonus compensation for recovered maps, historical records, unusual artifacts, or proof of cleared threats.
Last Lantern was built for work like this. The Ashen Marches are opening, and every old ruin we uncover is either a warning, a weapon, or a door.
Best find out which before something crawls through it.
