Adflictio was once a promising scholar of the arcane, known within his circles for his quiet diligence rather than brilliance. Yet years of fruitless study slowly eroded his patience. In time, he turned to a what was seemingly a forbidden line of inquiry in his circles, blood magic. Pursued in secrecy and obsession, he has develop a crazed obsession for blood, deeming it the most immediate and personal form of sacrifice to attain higher magic.

What began as controlled experimentation soon drew attention. Whispers of his practices spread among his peers, distorting truth into something far more dangerous. Adflictio did not wait to find out whether his peers would condemn him for his research, hence before accusation could become judgment, he fled, leaving behind whatever remained of his former life to adventure in pursuit of what he deems is true magic.
