Backstory
Born a human and the fifth daughter of Baron Salthen in western Gildas, she quickly learned that her existence was little more than a political bargaining chip. With so many older siblings ahead of her, she stood to inherit nothing. She was ultimately unimportant to the family lineage and was groomed only to be married off to another prominent noble house. However, her quiet observations of the estate revealed the horrific and cruel deeds her family committed to secure and maintain their status. This chilling realization planted the seeds of a deep, abiding hatred for her own blood.
Her only true ally was her personal bodyguard, who secretly trained her in the art of the sword. Swordplay became the first thing she was ever truly exceptional at, a hidden talent she harbored until a fateful argument about his execution of a local villager. Pushed past her breaking point by her arrogant eldest brother, the primary heir and supposed greatest warrior of the house, she challenged him to a duel in front of the entire family. Against all expectations, she defeated him soundly. This victory was a catastrophic humiliation for the Salthen name, as a mere fifth daughter was never even supposed to hold a blade.
Retribution was swift. Her bodyguard was immediately taken away, leaving her to wonder if her only friend was executed or exiled. To save face and bury the scandal, the Baron locked her in solitary confinement at the top of a desolate tower. The official story fed to the court and the public was simply that she was resting in her chambers and was not to be disturbed. She remained in that silent stone prison for a whole year. The agonizing lack of stimulus eventually fractured her mind, leaving her profoundly overwhelmed by simple physical touches or unexpected sounds.
In the void of her isolation, a strange new connection awakened within her. She began to receive communications from powerful, unseen entities, though she perceives them all as a single, supreme being she simply calls "God." She firmly believes this entity is the only true deity in the universe. Her divine connection is entirely unique. She never hears a voice or sees a vision. Instead, profound knowledge simply blooms within her mind. Just as one might suddenly realize a simple truth like the taste of a certain fruit, she receives divine insight armed with the absolute certainty that the knowledge was placed there directly by her God.
It was this silent, divine intuition that eventually saved her. After a year of imprisonment, a sudden certainty washed over her. She just knew the tower door was unlocked and that she could walk out freely. Trusting this knowledge, she pushed the heavy door open to find a single guard passed out in a drunken stupor. She quietly stripped the sleeping man of his weapons and slipped away into the night.
Now, she has fled far from home to the gritty streets of Bazagon city. Starting from nothing, she seeks to amass the wealth, power, and reputation necessary to eventually return to Western Gildas and tear her corrupt family down to its foundations.
