Coming from a background of abject poverty, Longinus enlisted early into the Bazagonian trade navy, and eventually became the 1st mate of the private ship by the name of Luck of Ryonisia. As a result of bad luck, and poor judgement on the captain/owner's part, the crew fell upon bad times and had to resort to brigandry to survive.

Inevitably the crew descended into full blown piracy, and the amount of murders started to mount. The captain decreeing that, from thereon out, they would be killing of all witnesses, was the final straw for Longinus, who abandoned the crew in disgust/regret for his actions. He became a thief out of necessity, and stealing the property of large trade conglomerates, or fancy trade princelings, never gave him much of a pause. But wanton murder for profit was not what he signed up for.

He is now on the run - both from the law, and to a lesser extent from his former mates. He was seeking to return to his old hometown in Bazagon to lay low for a while. Unfortunately it turns out that in his absence, the village has been raised and he has nowhere to go. Not to mention little money to spend.

All he knows is travel - especially by sea - so he's probably going to default to taking a ship somewhere distant from the Bazagon archipelago, to start his life anew. Hopefully a better one dedicated to something better, this time around.
