Reach exactly 301 points in the fewest number of throws.
Roll the d20. The number rolled determines which numbered segment of the dartboard you hit (1 through 20). This counts as a Ranged Weapon Attack for the purposes of Class features, Racial/Species Traits, Magic Items, and Feats. You do not add your Ability Modifier to this roll. If a total is greater than 20, the player can choose what number they land on.
Roll the d6. This determines where in that segment your dart landed:
1: Complete miss (0 points).
2 or 3: Outer Ring / Single Zone (Score face value of your d20).
4: Inner Ring / Single Zone (Score face value of your d20).
5: Double Ring (Score 2x your d20 roll).
6: Triple Ring (Score 3x your d20 roll).
Bullseyes. If you roll a 20 on your d20, it is a Bullseye.
Roll the d6. a 1–3 is an Outer Bullseye (25 points), and a 4–6 is an Inner Bullseye (50 points)
When you score a Bullseye and have 241 or more points, the bullseye throw scores you enough to achieve 301 regardless of the d6.
Bust Rule. If a throw goes over 301, the entire turn total is forfeited. Your score returns to what it was at the start of that turn.
Darts Proficiency. If you have proficiency with Darts, you can reroll the d20 a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus a day.
Hand-Eye Coordination. If you have proficiency with Sleight of Hand and Perception, you can reroll the d6 a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus a day.
Each player pays a fixed buy-in into the pot before the game begins. Today’s buy-in is 301 gp. There must be at least 3 players to begin a tournament
Winner takes the entire pot (The Winner is the first to reach 301 exactly in the fewest number of throws.)
Minimum Wager: 5 gp.
Maximum Wager: 50 gp.
These bets must be made before a player takes their turn and must be declared which turn the event would occur. You lose your wager if that turn is never taken. For example, “25 gp Bullseye Call on Wagner on his 3rd turn.”
Bullseye Call. Wager that a player will hit a Bullseye (d20=20) during the turn. 6 to 1
Triple Sector. Wager that a throw lands on a Triple Ring (d6 = 6) during the turn. 1 to 1
The Whiff Bet. Wager that an opponent will miss completely during their turn (d6=1, three times). 60 to 1
Century Turn. Wager that a thrower scores 100+ points in a single 3-throw turn. 40 to 1
Players participating in the tournament must buy-in before this event begins, declaring how many uses of Darts Proficiency and Hand-Eye Coordination rerolls they have. If there are at least 3 participating players, they can begin their self-paced play at any point after the start time.
Side Bets on the participants must be made before the tournament begins.
Players can also play an exhibition match, wagering amongst themselves in a 3-throw single turn game. The rules of this game are simpler, each player in a head-to-head 1v1 wager against each other. High score wins and takes the pot.
D20ctober. This is a special GM collaborative challenge featuring 31 prompts for each of the 31 days in October. D20ctober is about growing and improving and forming positive habits, so these participating GMs are challenging themselves with this creative tool. Today's prompt is “Toss.”
