Not to long ago, magic cut out across the world briefly. Most are unsure of the cause. During that outage a ritual was being attempted at the Mages College off into the mountains near the coast. There is nothing normal about this. It is unprecedented in all accounts. The ritual room has become unstable, as the full might of the magic of the ritual returned with no master in the form of a mage to control it. Some whisper of something else taking hold of the ritual.

The college is in need of some extra muscle to help unravel who now controls the ritual and put a proper close to it so they can divert their attention to the war effort.
