Physical Description: A fickle, middle aged goblin with slightly graying hair and piercing blue eyes. Flecks of sapphire blue hues highlight his otherwise typical green skin. Half week-old stubble and bits of food from his last meal cover his jawline. Several earrings that could be mistaken for metal scrap hang from his pointed ears. He wears a motley assortment of leather armor pieced together from what can only be described as bits of hide that had been found in the trash heap. A tool belt hangs from his waist with an assortment of surprisingly well-maintained devices, including a dagger in a leather pouch. The tools are in much better shape than the rest of his clothes, or hygiene for that matter.
Backstory:
Benylip originally hails from the Varisian Lost Coast where he was born and raised. From a young age, he had shown a very high aptitude for all things related to smithing, stonework and almost all crafting professions that involved creating things with his hands. He gained a particularly highly prestigious apprenticeship with a famous crafter as a young boy. They worked together for several years, along with several other apprentices who had all grown to be family to Benylip, with his mentor a father figure he never truly had. So famous was the artisan that the elite of Absalom had heard of his skill and commissioned him to build a monumental structure to rival that of Starstone Cathedral. Benylip, the apprentices and their master traveled the long distance to the central city of Golarian.
Fortunately, or unfortunately if you ask Beni, he was not amongst them when catastrophe struck. His father figure, and everyone else in his skilled family of crafters, died tragically. The building they were constructing fell unexpectedly while they were all either on it or inside of it. Benylip has spent countless hours pouring over the details of the design to discover the flaw that triggered the collapse, but he has yet to find it.
Beni spiraled into alcoholism and substance abuse. He pined for his lost family and the future he thought he should have had; working as a master artisan and being a key member of society. Instead he has since been drowning in drink and drugs. He uses his skill in crafting to get coin to spend it on drink and drugs. He has become something of a sought after commodity in the upper echelons of society for his skill, but he is considered very difficult to work with. The only time he pulls out of his melancholy is when he builds toys for children. A fun hobby he picked up that seemed to bring him joy without the baggage of thinking of his lost family, friends, and culture.
It was at rock bottom, drunk and smelling of his own filth, where he found himself being forced to enter the Adventurer’s Guild and sign his name on their roster.
