Philia hails from where most Anadi do: The Nurvatcha of Southern Garund. She grew up in a large family of three parents and 8 other siblings. Philia always believed that she would spend her entire life within their homeland, singing songs, helping her parents with the weaving business, and eventually perhaps form her own web family. That is until one day in her late teens she began to notice that seemingly unimportant things around her began to grant her clarity. Perhaps too much of it.
To Philia, the scraps of yarn and rope left on a table, the way dew drips from a gutter on a roof, or even the dust that gathers beneath a bed all spoke to her. They whispered about things as minute as the general weather within the next hour to things as grand and specific as the thoughts and actions of all those around her in a present moment. She felt as if she were being driven mad, cursed with knowledge, or perhaps simply having lost her mind and given in to delusion. But, soon these portents would reveal themselves to not be just useless or minor, but very much real when one allowed her to intervene and save one of her parents from being hit attacked by a loose wild beast in the middle of the city. It was something impossible to forsee, and without warning, would have caused certain demised. And yet, somehow Philia was able to not only see the terrible outcome, but act upon it.
When her parents began to realize the nature of Philia's abilities, they suggested she try and travel the world. It was something few Anadi parents would ever suggest to a fellow adult, let alone their own child. But her parents knew deep down that what Anadi was experiencing was not something that could be explained with their own knowledge. With heavy hearts and a tearful goodbye, they prepared what supplies they could for Philia before sending her off to the City at the Center of the World: Absalom once Philia became a proper adult.
